Post your tents

just an update on the kamp-rite oversize tentcot - spent the night in it on top of 4 peaks the other weekend in probably some of the worst rain i've ever camped in and no leaks. lots of condensation, but that's to be expected with anything that small and cool air outside and a mouth-breather humidifier inside ;)

where was that pic taken ?
was that up their ? have not been up that way we usually camp other places but want to start doing more close overnight runs with the family :)
so would love to get more detailed info looks like a nice spot :)

to bad I cant fit a 2 year old 7 year old and a dog and wife and myself in one of those :)
when I was single that would be a cool setup

i have a bibler fitzroy and a bombshelter. both are incredible. single wall todd tex material. to set one up you toss all the tent poles in the tent, crawl in and zip it up then you can completely set it up in the most horrific storms without having to be outside.

i have never seen any tent that compares to a bibler (they were bought by black diamond a while ago and available there now)

both of mine are the made in the USA versions, i dont think they are made here anymore so the quality may be different but they are extremely good single wall (no rainfly) tents.

Well it depends...

On the Moto, the Hilleberg Nammajt 3 GT is perfect. Indestructible 4 season tent with HUGE vestibule one could live in; perfect for the wet moto gear and the like. Fits easily in a side bag and sets up faster than a RTT.

On the 'other' bike, the Hillleberg Akto, 4 season solo tent, with a big enough porch to cook, and store bike bags. Weighs about 3.5 lbs and tucks nickely into any one of the 4 panniers. Again, sets up and take down is faster than a RTT.

On the big toy, the Eezi-awn does its job as well as anything out there, and the extra room is a great add on.

yes, more pics from the area here: http://offroadpassport.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1328

you go up from the front side, turn left at the saddle, take the next left, then a right, then a left ;)

and yeah, we have a kodiak canvas for the whole family, the tentcot is just when i go solo - it takes time to stake out, but it sets up pretty fast too actually.

thanks :) dont go up that way we usually go up toward Prescott and Sedona area or longer runs up toward Nevada but want to as I said do more around here :)

in the Kodiak do you use cots or the ground for the family ?

we have our trailer but the wife is not a fan of the ladder and kinda wants us to get all on the same level so looking at selling my trailer and getting a larger tent and maybe a LC to haul all the stuff in :)

Bohica,

I'm getting ready to buy a Tepui RTT and have an FJ with a flat utility Baja Rack. How does yours ride? Do you notice a little extra "tipping" when turning corners or with a crosswind on the highway?

Any issues with the Tepui brand? Is it too much trouble to mount on a rack for a weekend trip and then remove it when you come home?

Your pictures are great! Which awnings are you using? Could you let me know what sizes you are using for the side and rear of your FJ?

And is that the $600 cookbox that I see in your FJ?

Sorry if its too many questions.

Thanks,
Roland
