The truck still available.
The potential buyer from BC was a dishonest person. He seemed legitimate at first, but the more he kept coming back with questions after questions, even after he got the truck inspected by an independent mechanic to try and find anything and everything that would be or could be necessary to repair (the inspection didn't reveal anything for road safety. Yes, it's an old truck and yes, it will require maintenance, like any old vehicle, thus the fair selling price). With all that information in hand and after establishing in writing the $35,000 CAN purchase price, with the method of payment being a bank draft (which he had supposedly secured before flying in); he made the trip all the way from BC to Montréal, leading me to believe that he was very serious; he had everything researched, insurance, time off to travel back with the truck, even coming with his girlfriend. Remember, it's a 3 hours drive for me to get there, on a Monday, lost a full day of work and a full tank of gas (at $1.70/liter in Canada right now).
He spent over an hour on the phone with ''his mechanic'' from back home and checking everything all over again, fair, I was fine with that, he's buying it to drive across the country with his girlfriend for the next 10 days, better be certain. Couldn't find anything else that the inspector already pointed out, nothing preventing the truck from taking the road.
I have a copy of the inspection report and I have the permission to use it; I will share it with any interested buyer for free. The inspection cleared the truck for road safety, mechanically sound and in very good condition for the age of the vehicle. The inspector noted that the next thing on the list for maintenance, are the suspension bushings that will need to be replaced in the near future. The inspector suggested that while getting the bushing replaced, it was the perfect time to verify and adjust the sway bar and get an alignment; but again, the road test passed with all very good for all the points they check, from the driving, breaking, smoothness on the road, control, turning, and all the other things inspectors test during their road test.
I am sharing everything to be as transparent as I can be, no surprises for anyone.
Long story short, in the end, it was all a pressure tactic to try and force a negotiation. He wanted to pay $12,000 for the truck because that was his budget. ******? Such a waste of time. I took down the add from Facebook; never ever going to post anything on that platform ever again, so many morons.
