So I am going through the axles parts and in the process of getting a list of new parts I found out there is a bearing change around 1977 on the 3/4ton spindles. Here is the catch. I dont know what year the axle came out of.
Anyone know how I can go about finding what year of spindles I have so I get the right bearings?
The berring change is on the HD44 to my knowledge witch has bolt on hubs. Other wise the berrings areon the same or i should say I have used the same berring on almost every 44 I built older ih stuff being the only different.
I found the differences in the spindles I was needing. I just had to find the bearing journals and mic it out. All the spindles I have are for the 78 and newer bearings. This helps because I can just figure my front end is still a 91 and not have to worry about a year for this part or a year for that part.
I finally did it, I melted thru the air hose. I had stopped cutting with plasma gun and I heard a hissing gradually getting louder. I finally melted the air line.
A quick 10 minute repair job and I was back up and running... and I only lost 5 feet of the coiled hose.
Still finishing up the end caps and I have the spindles fully welded in. Started working on the swing out arms today. This may get put on hold as I may be doing some custom tub and lid work on a customers Bantam 416 trailer.
I love the progress on the rear bumper build PMA. Now, to change the topic, I am just curious why you bolted your sliders through the bodywork, and not make a rigid construction off your frame? Are there any advantages to this system? Cheers, Chilli...
