Okay Sven whats w/ this daughter thing......evidently those black out screens work really well. You seem to have failed mentioning the 'daughter'.
So this why you haven't had any new plans for trips. Now you have someone to teach driving to.....cool, congratulations. Does this make her a German citizen? Maybe she can buy your next tires for you.:victory: I was born in France of french parents and I'm a dual citizen. Never done anything w/ it but it seems there are advantages.

well, yeah, we slowed down last year with the greece trip while magdalena was pregnant. last november we had a daughter, lua. (see pic if you want)
no, she is an austrian citizen. here the kid gets the parents citizenship...

now we're going to take it easy this year and next year i plan on something again ;-) , then the following year i'll teach her how to drive :)))))))

Good looking kid! Yeah I would give driving a year too. They can be so excitable when they are young and tend to make mistakes.:sombrero:

thx for the compliments. yeah, i figured she might be a little careless at this point :))))

something i forgot to mention about the new fender flares:

it's an easy install with all stock holes and bolt-on. the turn signals get a mounting bracket and then are pushed through the hole in the fender.
well, on my passenger side the turn signal did not fit through.

i have to mention that the turn signals in europe pertrude a bit out of the fender, meaning they have more depth to them. i had to enlagre the hole in order to fit it. being out of rubber that was easy to do though. and they bend nicely when you run them against a rock :)))

i was just browsing through old pics and photoshop stuff i did....

i came across this one:
i did that photoshop way before i knew that i would ever own a JK.
i thought i toss that out so you can compare it to what Project XXX turned out to be.

i'll take a few poser shots in the next few days. to get action pics i need to drive a bit, so bear with me...

dan,
i noticed the JK being narrower inside than the XJ, mainly due to the rollbar. that's why i try to hang as much stuff from it as on a x-mas tree :)))
just use it...
as to the length - i don't know about LRs but it is too short to sleep inside if you don't push the front seats all the way forward. this way i have actually more length than in the XJ. i'm 6'1" and can comfortably sleep in the JK, BUT if i want to stretch out completely, i have to put my feet on the center console. (i built my platform to be the same hight
the hole in the center is for the fridge) i'm happy with it.
besides the LR is way more expensive ;-)
from all my choices of solid front axle vehicles (there are 5) the JK was the least expensive with all the options i wanted...
defender, partol, land cruiser are quite a bit more here. i don't even talk about a G-wagon ;-)...

Thanks again Sven,

The more I adventure around, the more I dream about my next project vehicle. From time to time I see a land cruiser troop carrier and stop and stare. It seems every single European I bump into has the Land Drover Defender, and there seems to be enough shops around for it as well.

No doubt the JK is the cheapest of the bunch, which is another reason I am leaning towards it (as well as my addiction to Jeeps in general)
My next vehicle will be decked out enough to not only sleep in, but also 'live' in. My friends in a Discovery built theirs with seats and a sink and cupboards and it's amazing to have somewhere warm and dry when it's pouring rain - as it has been for a month now in Colombia/Ecuador.
When I get around to building one, I imagine it will look a lot like a cross between yours and this (http://image.fourwheeler.com/f/1934...+mopar_custom_4x4s_moab+aev_jeep_overland.jpg)

Hmm, so many dreams. I'll have to get mine in Europe too so I can run with the diesel option - I won't take another gasoline vehicle.

Good luck man, looking forward to your next adventure :)

nice thing about the JK is the hardtop. since it can easily be taken off - that means it can easily be exchanged. i imagine a pop-top - if i had the money i would have one built...
and you could still go topless when driving around at home ;-)

if you happen to go to europe to pick up a diesel, let me know - maybe we can hook up.
i think germany sells them the cheapest (at least when i bought it a while back)

I was on JeepForum a few weeks ago and found a photo of a JK with a pop-top hardtop.. it looked pretty mean.
I'm undecided if I would go that route, as it means no roof-rack or roof tent.

I'll be heading over to Europe at some point in the future, it would be great to grab a beer and checkout your rig :)

Building for Germany...

Hey,
I spent all day, off and on, reading through this thread...Me likey! I'd like to pick your brain since I am laying the ground work for my Jeep Scrambler (CJ8) that will be coming to Germany with me. I am US Army and will be stationed near Neustadt/Vilseck. I was wondering if you knew if any of those laws are...um, different for US folks? Sounds weird I know..I have been trying to gather information to avoid any trouble or issues but about the extent I have heard is tires can NOT stick out past the flares and the exhaust must be routed out the back. Where you mentioned the bar/hoop on the bumper being illegal had me shocked!?! Any and all info you are willing to share would be great!!! Please!!

i know that for US-military there are different rules. stricter than in the US but better than for us EU-citizens. there is somebody here on the board who is stationed here, but i forgot who it was...
i'm sure there is a way to find out.
let's see if we can find him (he drives an XJ)

could have been stumpxj...
and it's very possible that he has returned to the states by now.

i had asked him about the hoop on his front bumper and that's when he mentioned, that he was stationed in germany and that there are different rules for US-military personnel...
he also mentioned that his time was about up.

hope that helps!
