Propex HS2000

I ended up buying a new regulator the was calibrated to 15" wc. Plus we checked with manometer. Propex themselves says it should run fine at 11-12 wc regardless of what is stamped on thier heater. Which is wierd. Anyway still getting code. It has to be internal. Thank you.

I hope you get it squared away, sounds like Propex might need to step up. I also hope they don't sully their good reputation as a result of feet dragging. I for one will be watching how this unfolds. Exactly as you pointed out, mine runs fine at 11"WC right on the button so it sure seems that something else is going on.

My whole situation is so convoluted I don't want to bash Propex to much. I will just say that the process of troubleshooting and proving that the installation is not the issue is mind boggling. I would have been money a head if I just bought a new unit.

I've had no issues with my HS2000 but I'm definitely going to mark this thread for future reference just in case.

Update on Propex:

So this whole saga was unique to my stupid dumb luck.

So my trailer manufacturer bought my Propex from the closest dealer to thier factory in up state New York. This dealer is in Quebec. So after my issues I started dealing with the US distributor in Fort Collins. After going back and forth trouble shooting for weeks due to them only taking propex calls three half days a week and never answering thier phone they finally agreed to have me send (on my dime) my unit to them. So I pulled it out of my trailer with exhaust and intake lines which was a pain and boxed it up. Van Cafe then asks for proof of purchase. My MFGer sends it. "Oh it was bought in CA we can't work on it" wierd vibe at Fort Collins dealer. Kind of like being the US Propex dealer was not fun. The manager did contact me and apologized and offered to pay to have it shipped to them and back. But I didn't as I lost faith.

I reached out to Propex North America and was a bit pissy and the contact was pissy back and said I bought a gray market heater. Never heard that term as I think of Canada as just being a northern state in the US.

All Propex dealers just assume it's improper installation that causes most issues which is likely true. So I did the following which I advise every diy to follow.

Buy 48" stainless lines for both intake and exhaust. If at altitude get the high altitude cap on intake. Run them parallel not in opposite direction for wind purposes. Try to separate line ends as far apart as possible. If you have multiple propane appliances run them on separate regulator at 11-12" wc. Then get a separate Calibrated regulator to 15"wc and run it to propex.

Most importantly buy your kit from Sure Marine in Seattle.

I finally sent mine back to Sure Marine and it had some internal issues that they fixed for shipping cost only. They had to solder a few areas of the circuit board.

Tried to contact the Quebec dealer and the business was sold and no one would admit they sent us a damaged unit. In very broken English.

All good so far.

Having some Propex HS2000 issues. My research has found these are a solid furnace. Of course Murphys law mine is throwing the sigle flashing light code. It fires up and cycles on and off for several hours then shuts down usually by morning with red light code. It happens out side in 28 degree temps and in well ventilated garage at 45 degree tems. Propex will make you spend weeks troubleshooting before they will let you send it in for repair. Then who knows how long to get it back. They are so quick to blame all issues on install. Seems wierd as they market to DIYers.

That's the same exact customer service we're getting from Victron on our inverter right now.

I guess when your reputation of the highest quality is so high they just don't want to admit issues do come up that are not due to install. Maybe it's a Euro thing but Dexter basically denied my claim and blamed the install.

Same here. Even a service rep from Expion tried to blame Kingdom Camping and the install. This after we had an independent solar electrician (Randy Gardner) and an Expion tech specialist (who configured our system) declare that the installation was excellent. A lot of customer service trailing these days must be all about how to shift blame somewhere else!
