QuadsBC's 05 Double Cab Tundra Family Expo Build

Basically have to weld in new ones further inwards. Makes shocks less effective but that also depends on what springs and shocks you run

There is definitely room to mount higher on Access cabs at least. You could hypothetically run a 12" shock without going inwards if you made both new upper and lower mounts. If I ever tackle this I will be drilling out the factory X-member and then boxing the frame and building a new cross member with upper shock mounts right below the bed. That's a TON of work though.

Just looks at tyv12 thread. You can see his upper shock mounts in one of his photos. Definitely different than our access cabs.

Your ride height is lower than Sean and Addison. Mine doesn't show as much chrome either but my ride height is much lower. When compression just one side and letting the other side droop (done on a rocky trail and not with a floor jack). I can compress pass the bump stop.

Unfortunately I don't have enough chrome to fly down fire roads and have it not bottom out.

I need to reevaluate once I do the SFK and custom leaf springs. See if I need to relocate the upper shock mount.

Ummmm... I wonder if the actual physical height of the 3-leaf AAL is what is causing the discrepancy. Lift height achieved by the leafs increase in spring rate shouldn't be the difference. My thinking is the AAL almost is acting like a very small lift block due to the thickness of the pack. This would space our (Sean and I) OE bumpstops closer to the strike plate by the height of the pack itself, maybe making up the difference. Adding the SFK to your system shouldn't solve this. Jose are you just running a factory leaf pack?

Here's what I decided to do, specs do match what I ordered. I believe the bed being deeper is the culprit of my issues. I ordered fox 980-24-674. 22.45 extended 14.35 collapsed. Hope they come quick. July 1 trip quickly approaching. Also ordered oem lower ball joints. Best guess is I have about 140k on them and I was nervous about them on the last trip.

Anyone in the market for new fox 985-24-009?

Nope we have the same front and rear suspension. Well almost

I have fox 2.5 700lbs
Factory leaf with 3 leaf AAL. With u bolt flip kit. My plate is 5/8 thick plate as well.

I just don't have the SFK.

Your welcome! Lol Little expensive lesson for me. But I should be able to sell these to an access cab owner. I'll post findings once the replacement fox's show up

That's odd the rear is different. Considering the rear bumper is the same between AC and DC

This is the best one I have with the mirror caps. I pulled them off to paint and used a can of primer/color/clear for each one.

Where did you get the Dupli Color paint? I gotta try this....

a few more holes in the fender never hurts. Installed some side markers from my old Wrx. Feels good that a part of that car can live on in the truck. I am going to change the bulbs out for Amber.

Double cab grill is different than access cab.

I actually put a double cab grill on my access cab. I did have to trim about a 3/8" off the bottom outside edges. Those protrude further out and the grill is a bit thicker, but it does fit the same otherwise.
