So many 2500s with the 6.4L have the 3.73 gears

Hard to find 4.10s.......or will more 3500 trucks have the diff gears?

When I was searching for trucks, it was hard enough finding hemi equipped trucks vs. diesel, especially when looking for a mega cab. Outside the PW option trucks, the majority of hemi 2500 trucks had 3.73. If they had 4.10, they were almost always the tradesman package.

That being said, the 3.73 are ok for the stock transforce AT, but I would have preferred 4.10 gears from the factory after stepping up to a 295/70R18. Reality is, being able to fit a 35” or larger tire easily, 4.30 or 4.56 would be even better.

A different 2015 2500 6.4L Big Horn I am looking at is advertised to have a 6 speed auto with a "transmission hill holder" feature......dealer says it's a 66RFE

I had 4.10s in my 2004 3500 and liked the gearing alot, both with 35s and 37s

Granted, it was a diesel but I still feel 3.73s won't do it for me

Guessing he means the hill descent control. Like cruise control at low speed.

I have found a few, but nothing overly joyed about

I am going to start removing all the parts from my truck and selling it all off

The transmission hill holder is for stopping on an incline nose up. You can remove your foot from the brake, and the transmission will hold you in place until you give it enough gas to move forward.

Hill descent control is for descent at a pre set speed using transmission as the brake.

Both leverage the transmission as the Brake so as to relieve some stress and heat from the brakes and rotors.

The 4.10 is perfect with the 6.4 and 35s. If you spend alot of time on the highway, at high speeds, this is exactly what you want.
Im about to jump to 12.5 wide 37s and believe this will be the max tire size ill shoot for with this gearing.

If it was weekend warrior, id be all over 5.13s and 37.

the truth is, with the transmission tuning from the factory, if you dont have 4.10 gearing or lower , dont plan on being overly excited about 35s or taller. Diesels are a completely different story, as you could go very high, and be very comfortable on massive tires. You dont not want to spin a diesel engine on the highway

I definately want to find a 4.10 geared truck

6.4L is high on the list, unless I can find a 5.7L truck for a steal
