when you stack 2 linear polarizers or a circular and a linear you get a variable ND filter. spin the linear polarizer and it lets in less and less light until it is nearly black, something like a nd400

circular polarizers dont work like that

I had the chance to go out into the swamps a cpl days ago with my brother in-law. pretty neat but the mosquitos thought my repellant was marinade.

hahaha yeah I had this off stuff. Gonna try jungle juice and also spray my clothes with permethrin. With any luck I will at least be able to enjoy my next trip out. as it was, with the heat and the skeeters I found bites all over my back and even on my legs, and I was wearing heavy pants (not recommended at this time of year)

Does anyone else see the indian woman leaning forward holding a baby on its back? She has her hair tied back and a head band on. She is between the 2 trunks at the base of the tree.

i honestly dont know what its called. it happens when its really cold and very humid and totally clear skys. the sun reflects off the air/ice crystals. so the bright spot is directly in line with the sun. you have to be in a place that you have a clear view looking down.

might be called a sun pillar, sun dog, light pillar but i am not really sure. i was hiking around the backcountry when i sort of stumbled upon it. its like a portal to a different dimension or something
