I made it back from Ultimate Adventure 2015 safe and sound. 4400+ miles total in just 10 days covering 15 states all together.

I will try and write something up in the coming weeks....

Can't wait to read about it. What part of the country did you go to this time?

Saw your shoutout in the mag with regards to their flatfender build and your contribution to said build.

We started in Ohio...then Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee.

I'm still trying to think about how to write it up, its a difficult trip to explain in words. If anyone has specific questions I can probably formulate an answer....

Gees, I don't get on expo as much as I would like, but I drop by and check on my bigger threads when I remember.
This one is almost up to 300K views now! Dang!

I have started a new project that is going to be a pseudo replacement.

1996 LX450 ( same as FZJ80 ) chassis
1970 FJ45-esk custom pinched cab/tub
2013 LC9 5.3 GM V8 all aluminum engine
6L80E 6-speed automatic
Land Rover LT230 transfer case
Toyota Factory 4.10 E-Locker Differentials
40" Tires and Beadlock wheels
Flat smooth belly
No lift on the J80 chassis and all factory suspension, steering, brakes, etc.

Should be a fun little runabout.

I have been thinking about starting a thread here.

If anyone needs a set of brackets to convert to the Tracker/Sidekick disc brakes shoot me a PM.

Due to demand recently, I have started to get them cut in volume. This dropped the price way down. The offset caliper spacers are also now laser cut and provided with every bracket.

On what axle?

Todd Z.

Hello,

The brackets where designed to be used on just about any early Jeep axle. D25/27/30 front, and they also work on D23/41/44(2pc) rear axles. This would be most of the universal Jeeps from 1941 to 1986 for the front axle. And up to about 1970 for the rear axles. They will also work on Willys Wagon and Pickups. They could also work on other axles with the same 6-bolt spindle mounting pattern that are 5 on 5.5, but I can't test them all.

I hope that helps. If you are looking for a solution for an odd axle let me know. I like building stuff...

Thanks for the info! I have intermittently looked at the Tracker rotors from time to time as a good solution as a rotor for 9" rear disc conversions. They appear to have a big enough hat to fit over the axle flanges without issues. I'd pair them with some rear Varga calipers which have e-brakes that appear to work a little better than the ubiquitous Cadillac calipers.

Another caliper option to look at for rear e-brake applications is the Nissan 300ZX. I am looking at this right now and may offer this as an option.

I'll have to take a look at those. I don't know that I've ever seen in them in the junkyard before. Which vintage of 300ZX?

1987-1989 300zx.
RAYBESTOS FRC3132 rear left
RAYBESTOS FRC3131 rear right
They run about $100 each ( ouch ) if you eat the core charge, but are suppose to have a very compact ebrake function that works well.

Checked and those are similar in piston size to the Vargas that I'm familiar with. The Cadillac calipers aren't cheap either but you can still find them in the pick-a-parts around here so the core charges aren't too bad. Always interested in cheap and easy disc brake conversions!
