Raptor Lined the XJ's fenders

So the fender flares and the lower moldings on the Jeep were looking a little "Old" and I though I wanted to keep the White/Grey XJ Country look. I started looking for a do it yourself Line-X style product. I found Raptor Liner by U-Pol. It is tint-a-bule if you buy the correct style. I thought I could add the right color of grey and spay the original grey parts grey on my white jeep.

Prep was the hardest. I took off the moldings and flares. I had to take all the sticker backing off the metal. Some razor blades and time was all it took. I then skufed (SP) up the paint so the Raptor would stick. Then taped off the door jams and nice white paint. Mixed up the color and went for it. Here are some pics.

I am very happy about the results so far. Now I just need to reinstall the flares and go jeeping.

Questions?

Any pics of the whole jeep? I'm interested in that raptor liner stuff, where did you get it?

Nice job. My custom bumpers on my YJ were sprayed with Raptor and now that it has fully cured it seems very tough.
I was going to roll herculiner on the inside of my tub, but I'm thinking about returning it and spraying in Raptor instead.

I did Herculiner in my XJ this summer and I like it quite a bit, I don't like that it is gloss black but hopefully it will fade in time (its weird to wish something would fade). That Raptor liner looks pretty darn nice though, I kind of like the texture of that than the Herculiner. And I like the idea of doing the lower quarters with it too, it will give it a little bit of abrasion resistance even though it isn't as tough as actual metal armor.

That looks great! One of the best things I did to my XJ.

The herc will fade, I did mine with it, and it fades nicely. Looked kinda goofy all shiny.

I really like the texture so far. Being able to add color sold it to me. I bought it at Amazon for around 100.00 The nice thing is that it comes with an air gun and 4 small containers equaling one gallon. I still have 2 left.

The feel is very hard, almost like line X it is not soft at all.

The main reason I'm considering doing raptor inside my tub instead of the herculiner is that the raptor has a bit finer texture, after talking to some guys that have used herculiner inside they say it's more difficult to clean out sand/dirt/mud et al because it ends up with a rougher texture than a spray in like raptor.

So above is Lewy's two coats of Raptor with a good representation of the texture, and below is my interior after two coats of Herculiner. Should be a good A/B comparison.

Just looking at it this way I am liking the Raptor liner better than the Herculiner but I guess I'm stuck with it now. The Herc seems to be more jagged and chunky whereas the Raptor is a lot more even.

That is a good comparison. I'm still undecided since I already have a new herculiner kit in my garage and just rolling it in would be easier for me to do, but I'm leaning toward raptor.

On my Jeep the application of the Raptor was easy. The prep was a ***** but I guess it would be the same for both products. I did Herc at work for a screen cleaning room for water protection. It has lasted very well. It is softer, more like a rubber. This is hard, more like a plastic. It does not give at all.

I thought about puttin the raptor on my flares, But am worried about it flaking off if I bump something.
