Remove or disable the DI alarm?

Is it possible to completely remove or disable the DI alarm system? I am not having any issues with it, but do not use the fob, and would prefer that system be completely disabled.

This is all part of my plan to remove every computer from my Disco ;)

I am having a 1995 non-airbag dash and wheel shipped in from Guatemala right now too, and have pulled the fuse on the ABS system.

Very doable.

The way the Immobilsor works is by using a relay to open and close the ground on the starter relay, if the Alarm ECU is happy it will close the circuit and allow the starter relay to function if it is an unhappy Alarm ECU the circuit will not close. To eliminate the immobisor just wire the ground for the starter relay directly to ground. Both these relays are behind the passenger side footwell kick panel. At the moment I cannot remeber exactly which one is which though.
For the windows unless you change to manual windows you will want to retain the window ECU, the switches are actually very reliable the ECU is as well provided you pull it apart and re solder the "very obvious" cold solder joints, there is a good write up on this over on Dweb in the tech section under rear window repair.
For the ABS just yank it all out Airbags too they talk to nothing other than themselves.

Is the ABS warning light a bulb that can be pulled? I pulled the bags on my Focus, which trips the light, which is actually an LED surface mounted to the board on the instrument panel. They obviously wanted to make this really difficult to defeat.

The solution is to put a piece of electrical tape over the LED. :D

It is a bulb, fortunately. I will need to pull the ABS and SRS bulbs.

Oh, and add that "Diesel Fuel Only" label ;)

Nothing to add on the alarm, as i havent pulled mine yet.

Ive been thinking about yanking the airbag in my 95. At the very least the passenger one. Is there a non airbag cover for the standard NAS disco wheel? BTW what your source/contact for the new dash. I might have to move that up on the disco to do list.

Does the D1 have a brake proportioning valve, or Electronic Brakeforce Distribution? Just wondering if your brake bias will get screwed up without ABS.

The non-airbag stuff should be available right from Mexico?

There are no different covers for Non ABS Disco's. What you would need is a non ABS Wheel and the grab handle and finisher from a non ABS D1.

The D1 has a normal proportioning valve so pulling the Wabco unit and replumbing is relatively easy.

Here is a picture of the Non-Airbag passenger side. There is a non-airbag wheel too, but I do not know if it is available with the cruise control functions. I am happy to lose the cruise.

Note: I flipped the image so it would look more "normal" ;)

Unfortunately for airbag equipped dashes they hacked a gaping hole in the dash where the grab handle goes. Even with the grab handle parts, you'd need to do something to make it not look so bad.
Scott, good idea on just getting a whole dash.

That's the view (passenger side) I had for the OBC, Those grab bar's are sweet and the cubby left by the missing airbag leaves plenty of room to mount the Navi's GPS along with a place to stash his gloves, TP, granola bars and whatnot!
