Good to see a report, I've run that trail a few times before- it's always nice. I feel your pain about the side-illumination issue, though mainly I'd like to add some for times in camp where it helps to unload etc. Truck is really coming along nicely, my gf is the same way about off roading too. :sombrero:

Heheh thanks! I know stioc has the same light on his rear hatch. I'll get some pics up when they get in and I get them on.
I think once we get our gf's out with us more often, they'll get used to the trails. I got to get her to drive more trails too.

I'll probably go back up to Santiago tomorrow during the day since there is a lot of down time right now with work. Silverado is such a pretty little town to drive through.

Took two days for BlitzPro to ship to me when I ordered them on Sunday evening. I didn't know they were located in Cerritos; probably a small outfit.

Product looks pretty good: All six (6) units look pretty consistent to me and included all waterproof connections (male and female). They have a date stamp on the upper housing: 12/2013. No mounting hardware is included other than the mounts, I guess leaving the user the freedom to utilize personal preference.

I'll be testing and then mounting them on this week, hopefully it cools down in the coming days.

Sweet! Overall I've been pretty happy with my blitzPro light (same one you got) except that by today's standards it could be a bit brighter and less bluish. I got mine over a year ago. But then again you got 6 of those so they'll be plenty for side/rear lights.

These ones tend to get great reviews these days in the same price/usage category as the BlitzPro ( http://www.amazon.com/LED-LIGHTS-Square-27watt-Polaris/dp/B009ESAZHW/ )

I hear you on the creepy feeling when you're outside the truck all alone in the pitch blackness of the night...been in that situation a few times and it gets your heart pumping but more in an adventurous way :)

I've checked out the Tuff LEDs on Amazon awhile back. Totally forgot about those.

I think the power usage was the selling point for me. 800lumens is enough for aux lighting and only 6w per light my battery will be happy. Although 26w @ 1550lumens for 25$ is really enticing.

Agreed on the blueish LEDs. If they were all more white/warm like a 4600k HID would be great. I hate blueish light.

I would like to see those blitzPro lights once you get them all wired up. I need to figure something out for my perimiter lighting for when Im in camp. I also want to wire in a low voltage cutoff into the circuit so that I can run them with the ignition off and still not worry about draining my battery down flat.

Something like this before a fuse panel for lighting would likely be perfect...

Sorry, didnt mean to brainstorm in your thread.. But who knows.. maybe you might think its a good enough idea to do it too?

No worries. I actually got them all wired up yesterday, but it's a bit messy. I ran out of ties and was running out of time. If you want to meet up to check it out, PM me.

I've never used anything of that nature before, but it sounds quite necessary to have when running aux lighting to the battery when not charging. I might just look into that.

Here they are mounted. Don't mind the messy wiring :D

lights look great! in time i will do something like that for sure for night illumination. For now I strap little LED light to my forehead :) when walking around camp like setting up a tent.

That looks great. It looks like there is a lot of unlit space right up against the truck though. Mounted on the side as opposed to on the bottom of the mains, do you think it would give you better coverage closer up against the car?

I don't have them aimed just yet. I might just do what you suggested and mount them on the sides of the rails to get better coverage up to the truck. I'll check it out tomorrow and see what I can. I have to remount the rear light as I can't get any coverage without mounting it higher or closer to the edge of the roof.

Either way, it looks like they cast plenty of light. That's pretty awesome. I may have to try to pick some of these up!

Haven't checked in with you in a while; truck looks great! I love those spots for the LEDs. That's where I have mine. Gotta love damn near 360 lighting :D

Man those things really obliterate the darkness. I am planning on some big Blitzpros for my next Frontier.

I do have to agree with stioc on how the light output-price ratio should be better. The construction is decent, the output is decent, but I'd pay no more than $20/ea for this setup. I can build a light bar for about $30 and have over 2000 lumens but I'd be running over 20W. That's me being picky and cheap. But I digress. For the price and how nutty the market is getting, it's definitely not bad at all. You CAN get better output for the same price, but at the cost of more power consumption. The small size and low power usage are definitely pluses in my book.

Thanks! I thoroughly enjoy it now. I saw your setup on the last set of pictures. Even just driving through the trails in the dead of the night is a LOT more comforting with the 360deg illumination.
