Weighed the truck at all 4 corners; front left was 1300lbs and the rest were 1200lbs. Ordered a pair of Kings from Accutune, the first set got straight fittings and i ordered the second with 90's. I'll get 90's for this set later. Painted all the bare steel and installed the shocks to finally sit the truck down on its own weight after four months.

Wrapped mine up with some new double cardan driveshafts, interesting thing was that the Montero 9.5" rear diff pinion flange had the same pattern as the Ford F-250 but metric and female. Tom Woods was able to machine a pilot to fit the Montero pinion flange and Ford 1350 companion flange so all i had to do was use SAE bolts. Made some good progress on PA_JERO's SAS as well by this point, every time i made a part for my truck i also made his parts. I started mine 2 months before i started his and finished them both weeks apart.

One thing i learned is it's a tight fit, getting the steering and panhard rod all the way i wanted took a lot of work and it's still not exactly how i wanted. I'll probably draw up a new panhard mount for the axle side to make it easier on me if i ever do another one or someone else does.

Mid term report, it's AWESOME! Drives better on road and off, balance is still there and its very predictable. DO NOT GET A REMAN STEERIN GEAR! I had been fighting a steering dead spot on both trucks caused by worn sector shafts/bores, i bought them from a reputable Bronco restoration company and it was complete with hydro assist ports and was not cheap by any means. I've discovered this is a common thing with the Saginaw box rebuilds and it's almost universally acceptable (American truck guys must have lower standards), we got brand new steering gears from Benchwork Steering in Scottsdale Az. Problem solved 100% and both trucks drive better than a modern solid axle truck. Luckily we are getting refunds on the reman units.

Having been a Montero guy for almost 20 years It's a new feeling getting so much respect from 4wd shop owners and other wheelers i bump into.

I've had a Gen 3 since 2006. I usually get met with confusion at the trails, but anyone who sees it in action is left impressed. Not the simplest or easiest on maintenance, but hard to beat for value.

Went wheeling for realz this time to see how they held up to more serious stuff, PA_JERO dented his roof and i broke the passenger front U-Joint. I kinda thought Spicer joints were going to be short lived with 35's but i didn't think that short! ?

Thanks! Just takes practice. I'm just an okay driver, guys like PA_JERO and Montypower have talent behind the wheel. Maybe I'll get there some day.

Dang, nice build. You've been at that a while, lots of detail. Is it completed? The thread seems to leave us in suspense, I'm swapping a V8 next as well.
