Scangauge question/suggestion?

But do you really want to clutter your dash?
Just personal preference. In all three of my trucks that have gotten ScanGauges, I test-mounted them on the steering column and thought they felt a little too "in your face" to leave there. Of course, my use of the ScanGauge may be different from yours. I don't reference mine continually when there's nothing going on, as the truck gauges and idiot lights would let me know if I had a problem, and I only check the trip functions a few times an hour. As a result, my ScanGauges intentionally get tucked out my line of sight into the top of bottom corner of the windshield. Others would prefer your approach.

Mine has a port on the back and side also. Trans temp is working via non CANSF code for 03-04 4runner. And with the latest firmware thru CANSF on the 05+ 4runners. However on non CAN bus cars the SG will sometimes pulse pin 14 erasing the zero point calibration data. Easy to reprogram if needed, but can be avoided by not telling the SG to auto detect.

It's all personal preference isn't it? My line of sight includes the windshield, so anything there, to me, is distracting and I find those items block my view when on the trail plotting my way around obstacles. I find when driving and scanning the road ahead that there's a level of convenience and reassurance to glance down at the instrument cluster for measurable temps that alert the data banks in my brain housing group before the vehicle ECU decides to activate that idiot light. My personal preference only.

My dash and windscreen is a bobble head, hula girl, and electronic device-free zone. No distracting gadgets or gear adrift for this former Sailor. Just my personal opinion that applies only to me... YMMV

Right now it's my windshield that's cluttered (with the Ultra-Gauge and GPS stuck to it with suction cups) and I'm trying to get away from that.

Also, I'm tall enough that stuff mounted low on the dash only affects my view of the hood, not the road. ;)

When you get a scangauge, double stick tape it in various places until you find a spot that works for you. Mine was on the column (ala TB) but felt way too close to my old man eyes, and it blocked some dash lights. I kept moving it and now I have a good view of it and it doesn't block anything.....
