Will the seats from a 99 XJ fit a 93 with out modification ?
Have a line on a pair ,but don't want to have to modify anything to fit.

Thanks,
Matt

That is what I was afraid of. I was looking on Jeepforum and from the pics I saw, I'm thinking maybe a piece of square stock or the like to makean adapter would work.

just grab some angle iron, drill some holes, and bolt in the seats. bolt the angle to the floor using the factory 93 studs, and drill holes in the angle for the 99 seats. then just drill through the floor and bolt down in the back. hardest part was drilling through the angle iron.

Matt, i have read quite a few posts that those era seats are pretty uncomfortable. If you consider doing minor fab work it may be beneficial to look into WJ or ZJ seats. Leather and heat are available in some.

If you have the base style seats there are pre 95 seats that are more comfortable, and would be a direct bolt in.

Hmm, thanks Overland.. now I have something else to consider:sombrero:
They look comfortable, but so do the ZJ seats. Which upgrade seat are bolt ins ? I'll fab if I have to, but bolt in is better.

Can you post a pic of your current seat? I get the feeling you have the same base model seat that i do.

In my old 88 Laredo i had seats that were much more comfortable, my wife's old 94 Country had these same seats. I'll dig up a pic.

Like DaJudge posted, theres alot of info at www.naxja.org/forum on seating options. If your unfamiliar it's an XJ-MJ specific site.

On my old XJ and installed WJ seats. Was a super easy install. The old XJ seat brackets bolted up to the WJ seats bottoms. However this was on a 99 XJ.
I will say it was a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT.
But like others have suggest its not diffcult to take your old seat bases and mod them to the new seats.

I have NAXJA bookmarked, I just have so many fourms that I forget about some of them. Thanks for the links , guys. Think I'll pass on the 95s and look for some zj/wj seats. The stock 93's suck bad. I'm getting old(er) and want some comfort:victory:

Naxja should be the first place you check when doing any research on XJs. Anything you can conceive of has been discussed ad naseum over there.

There is a thread over there that discusses WJ seats, including retrofitting the rear bench. I'll probably do that mod eventually once my boys are big enough to need more leg room.

don't bother with the later XJ seats...my 97s seats have broken in 3 places and kill me on ling trips

I also think the previous government official that drove it was a big guy...which probably promoted the breakage
