Kodachrome,
I know this is just my travel thread, and most folks won't see it; but I do appreciate the info you posted, and I agree with 99% of it.

To add to that: One of the problems most photographers have is a total lack of business and marketing skills. You seem to have your business skills tuned up as well as you photographic skills. I know many excellent photographers that have no idea how to make a steady income from their photography work.

PPA helps photographers learn and implement these skills. In the real world, I think this is more valuable than the certificate of accomplishment that can be earned.

Beautiful shots, Brian. I love DV and your shots capture the essence of it well.

I do have a technical question, though. In some of the shots (not just yours, but I'll use yours as a convenient example) I see "pixelated" striations in the sky, such as seen in the fourth photo in post #54 or the second photo in post #58.

What causes this? My monitor? The resolution you used to post them here? Or???

Thanks!

Great photos and what a great trip you had. Love DV. Spent a lot of time in that area during my young geologist days. Am trying to get up and go in January.

Thanks for the kind words.:)

Scott,
That is called posterizing. I think it is your monitor or your graphics card. My laptop screen does the same thing, but everything looks great with an external monitor.

I actually sized and sharpened for this forum. Then I use the "Save for Web" functions in Photoshop. With a quality setting of Medium to High, the images look good, and the file size is not horriblly large.

Thanks, Brian.

I just looked at this thread on my home computer, and the pics look like they should. :) (I try not to look at photo-intensive threads at home--I'm on dial-up!)

I guess on the other computer they did not spring for the deluxe graphics card.

I'm gonna revive this thread. After doing a search for Lee Vining this thread came up. Great photos and information. I like Kodachrome's statement even if I have totally given up film for digital after shooting film since '81.
