Looks great. Didn't know frntrunner made a bed rack

Old school looking cvt too

Thanks blackdawg! Frontrunner just came out with the new set up, it's very strong and helps a great deal with stiffening up the bed.

The CVT is old school and has served me very well. Great product for sure!!

Just wondering. Is it really necessary for the CBI bumper to be that low? Like is there bodywork behind the bumper that is that low? Seems like a lot of clearance could be had by trimming that up quite a bit. But I'm ignorant to the details of that model 4Runner.

x2 on this. Looks great, but is there something under there limiting clearance?

Thanks!
The bottom of the bumper is up tight to the bottom of the box frame, which has a cross-member at the very end. I dont have my heavier springs installed yet, which will help a little. My departure angle aint great, but no problems yet....except my exhaust! not sure if there is a way to raise it. ive seen a homemade tube bumper that was nice and tight.

In the pic you can see how the frame is. There is no bodywork or other parts to keep someone from modifying the frame and using a custom low profile bumper to greatly improve departure angle and clearance. Maybe I will get to that in the future...or my next runner!

im sure i will smash this resonator flat before i get the exhaust redone! i have some good dents in it when it could flex upward, now it is held lower.

edit:
Here is a side view, still waiting on my front bumper :coffee: then i need sliders. My biggest clearance problem now is the **** gas tank, have to raise it when i get time....

I've done pre, 1st, 2nd, and now it's time for a 3rd gen - acquired right at my 20 yr "anniversary" driving Toyotas :)

Nothing much yet, some 265 Duratracs and a goofy rack. TRD/890 parts en route
Some of the rigs here blow my mind - I'll be happy if it comes out half as nice!

Another reason why the bumpers on the 4runner is so low is the rear door. It goes lower than it needs to for off road purpose. It's low for loading grocery.
Post a picture of the hatch open and people will understand more

I would say every production vehicle is lower than it needs to be...... yes the rear end is lower than it could be, but that is for cargo room and optional third row seating. You can see that the mid section is even lower, but leg room is kinda important. One reason that I have so much room between the bottom of the frame and the cargo deck is that I have a 1.5" body lift, otherwise it is frame and body with a little space in between. I'm not interested in hacking up and modifying the frame, rear body supports, and bumper anytime soon, so it is what it is....off-road bliss! :smiley_drive:
