Funny, I was also on the Slickrock Trail, at Mt Reba, Lake Alpine, Spicer, etc., this weekend as well.

Howdy. Newbie from Nevada here with a 2011 Tacoma SR5 4x4. Only mods are 5100's all around and 32" Toyo Open Country MT's on AWC Rock Crushers. I've been in and out of the EP forums for the past four years, but couldn't tell you why it's taken me so long to join. I recognize several folks from other forums in here so I suppose I might as well be too. :)

While driving out to Dug Bar in Hells Canyon this last trip I hit 300,000 miles!!!:wings:
I am still on the factory engine, no rebuild and running strong!

I purchased this truck new in October of 1999. It is a 2000 model year SR5 3.4 V-6 5 speed.
Hand crank windows and manual locks, no cruise, no ABS, but I do have A/C.

Looking to get at least an other 100,000 out of it!

Hello all! First post ever so excuse the noobness. I would like to say first and foremost great stuff guys! As of late, I was planning to modify my truck with the common things like a lift and tires. But it came to my attention that I needed a purpose for doing so. For one, I needed to convince the wife. What better way than an off road rig that can go almost everywhere. So the the idea of building an trekking vehicle came to light. So the selling point to my wife is that we can go venture into the woods for vacation. This will be my first build so I'm searching the world wide web for ideas and what caught my eye was the front bumper of this beautiful tacoma. Great job Box Rocket! The bumper looks beefy and simple. Fore the time being, my truck will be DD, so the simplicity would be perfect. Any insight on where I might snag one up would be greatly appreciated.

One of my favorite 1st gen Tacomas too...there's lots of info in his build thread here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/39134-Box-Rocket-03-DC-Tacoma-Build

The bumper is made by Trail Gear: http://www.trail-gear.com/tacoma-front-bumpers

Wondering about the antenna mounts - do you have info on them by chance? I cut the wire on my magnetic mount and want a permanent mount anyway.
Sure, for the ham antenna I'm using a Diamond K400CNMO lip mount attached to the back of the hood, although I'll probably switch to a standard L-bracket at some point just for simplicity's sake. For the CB mount, I used the mounting bracket that comes welded onto the ARB bumper. I used Firestik FireRing PL-259 coax and a 3/8"-24 thread Firestik antenna stud mount. On top of the antenna stud mount is a Firestik spring, then a Firestik quick-disconnect, then the antenna.
