Guess I should join in! Been lurking a while, finally joined up. Haven't done too much, as the Tacoma is my DD. Silver, 2009 Double cab, Short bed sport. You can see the mods in my signature; pending a Total Chaos UCA installation. Future plans are hopefully a bestop camper shell, sliders, and likely a Best Built skid plate in the next week or two.

Haven't done much yet, as you can tell the tires are getting a bit inadequate.

And on my last road trip, VA, through PA, NJ, CT, MA and into Maine, then through NH, back down through NYC, the Eastern Shore and home, over 5 days. Pics of me (in order) at Kennebunkport, ME; on a portion of the Applachian trail in VA, and Green Mtns, NH.

I'm looking forward to a trip to the Blue Ridge Trail in the next month or 2, maybe finding a few more off-road parts in this state.

Right on! Sounds like you also had a great trip! I ended up driving through that same hole water was up midway to the door! Then we realized the trail went the other way.

Nice looking Tacoma you have too!

Beautiful place and really like the signage on the trail that reminds people to be responsible. We need more of this.

ohh the memories of that damn hole. I remember it every single time I walk up the DS of my truck, good ol spruce tree pin stripping...

Thanks man, it needs a few things (like bigger rubber) but all in all it handled more than I thought it would on that trip.

I couldnt believe how well controlled that trail was. Tons of signs, a few idiots in the past wrecked it (cable marks on trees going up falcon hill, garbage at the 2 lakes) but other than that it was amazing.

I was taking a look at www.ct4wda.com a few days ago. I have taken a look at a few 4wd club sites and I have to say you guys definately look and sound like the most professional group I have ever seen. Great writing, great driving, great vids! Are most of the runs in Alberta/BC?

Thanks for that info Wheelingnoob, I'll look close at the OME stuff. I did all the welding on a friend's SAS on an 87 pickup with the Trail Gear 5"HD kit so am pretty familiar with them. Here's my 4runner last winter exploring the Red Meadow Lake area outside Polebridge Montana and one of the swingout bumper I just built for it. Well Looks like I am having trouble with the pics.

I would love to hear about the Alvord when you get back! I have had it on my list for a few years, keep getting sucked the the cool coast and sand tho LOL.

Thanks 4Rescue its been a long road to get it were its at now but all worth it. Really glad I stuck with the goal of 33's and low solid axle swap. Having the 2dr is great and a curse at the same time. I love driving it around and in the US I get lots of strange looks from Toyota people and then lots of thumbs up's. But some times having those rear doors would be nice.
I will give a full report when I get back. We really need to put together an Oregon/NW or whatever get together and go explore some of the amazing areas that exist in this fine state. Oh and once again, LOVE the truck mate, I feel the same way about keeping it LOW. The 33's actualy look perfect on her compared to some others I've seen that are just too tall and make the 33's look tiny. LOVE the truck mate.

Colombia Overland: I had no idea you guys had a Toyota in your stable, that's a beautiful truck.

Croz: That 4th Gen is a BEAST. I love it. Looks so neat to see these late model rigs with SAS's done to them.

Cheers

That sounds like a great idea, I really do not know a lot about the area or areas to go other than I love the coast and really am interested in Alvord (SP) area. I would love to do the North/South Oregon trail some day too or even do it all the way to the border with Canada. I need more vacation time than I have right now tho to do a trip like that.

Thanks again and glad you like the truck.

Cheers.

The latest edition now featuring black powdercoated FZJ80 wheels and 285/75/16 Treadwrights along with the Mombasa RTT. These were taken on the 2010 UP Overland trip. I will post a clean pic up tomorrow if I get a chance.

Do you get any rubbing issues with those tires? UCA fender etc?

I do have some rubbing on the frame at full lock. A little in the back when it was loaded right down and would take a big bump but I was surprised what little I had on our trip for as much offroad as we were.

None known on the UCAs. I know my shocks are all about worn out and was hoping to get some 5100 Bilstiens before the trip but everyone is out until Oct. I am hoping that those will take care of what litle rubbing I have.

I must also say, I think I am among the ranks now in support of Treadwrights. These tires performed excellent in everything I threw at them.

The Mombasa RTT (same as a Camping Lab basically) was excellent too. We had some pretty bad weather thrown at us on one of the nights and we were camped damn-near in Lake Superior and we didn't get a drop of water in the tent. A shout out for Jacque at TRDParts4U (where I purchased the RTT) too for his help. I would have gone with a CL but Fernando wasn't going to have any in in time to prep for our trip.

A pic of the truck semi-clean now.
