1995 Toyota T100 4x4
I looked around for trucks for months and then remembered the old T100s. I found a great deal on mine in the Bay Area. Original owner, 147,000 miles for $4800! Turns out the owner still had the matching camper shell for another $150. I wish it was manual and had cruise but it's still a great truck. I use it everyday for work on the Navajo Reservation. It doesn't always the fastest on the highway but in 4x4 driving, it can't be beat. The 4x4 crawls through anything and the clearance is pretty good with stock (at least I think it's stock). It not quite as low profile and agile as the tacoma but I prefer the extra room since I'm living out the truck for 6 months. Not too much of a build up since I base camp most of the time and pull out boxes, stove, table and cooler. I built a shelf in the front of the bed to store boxes while in transit so I can still sleep in the back if I need to while fully loaded. I took the rocket box and basket off as I slimmed down the load but it didn't effect gas mileage. The motorcycle on the back noticeably affects fuel economy and power. I don't keep it on there too often.
I've done a lot of basic maintenance catch up (timing belt, new shocks, fluids, plugs, wires, filters, cv boot). I'd like to get a little bit bigger tires and maybe a small lift. Currently looking for a camper trailer (Scamp, Casita, Boler, etc.). The slide in pop ups are interesting as well (four wheel, etc.). Anyone have experience with these campers? I love this site and the inspiration it provides.
