I just picked up a 13' KLX250S. near instantly added guards, skids, rack, exhaust, intake and jetted! love this bike. 218mi. ended up talking my buddy into getting an 07' version of the bike that was already jetted, exhaust, and some other goodies. big plans for a summer trip.

How do you like it? There is a 2012 leftover at the dealer near me. How much better is it after exhaust and jets? Going by what you paid what whould you think is a great deal on one?

Ray - How do you like her? I have been lusting over the Ktm 690....For some reason the Honda is not doing it for me....Still looks like a farm bike....

Let me know.

Uh, yeah, about the Honda...

Don't get me wrong, it's a very capable reliable bike. Like buying a Land Cruiser.

...but I am more of a Defender guy.

I guess the telling statement would be, I always buy Triumphs and Yamahas because I want a bike with soul, my wife wants basic reliable transportation, and she always buys Hondas.

I am not a huge fan of the 690 either, looks wise.

For pure bike sexiness I would go for a second hand 2005-2007 ktm 640 with the full rally fairing...

the exhaust, jets, intake and a front sprocket took the bike from fun to amazing on rides. it has way more low end on it and grunts right through where before I was searching for a lower gear. I think MSRP is about 5099$ or something like that plus they try and hit you with shipping and assembly. usualy another couple hundred. Oregon does not have sales tax. so if you got a brand new 12' for under 5k out ther door I would think you would be doing alright.

I bought this bike last year with 700 + miles on it (at 11 years old).
That said, I went through the bike and replaced anything that was weathered or dry rotted.
Eventually, that would include the original Metzler Sahara tires, which looked new, but were ultimately compromised.
As such, and with the dealer wanting $100 per tire to mount and balance, I went ahead and purchased a set of three spoons, and a gravity balancer.
Attached are a couple of photos of the bike with the new tires, an EBC brake rotor, and a new DID chain.
