My Friend Joe needs your help. Sierra 4x4 trailers can't delivery their trailers after you pay for one. Joe ordered and paid in full last October 2011 for a Sierra 4x4 trailer. He also paid for shipping and was promised delivery in January, then February………now it will be June 2012 this weekend and still no trailer and more promises. Joe missed having the trailer for Easter Jeep Jamboree, Memorial Day Weekend, what's next? all of summer. Please, let's help Joe get his trailer.

Why not just have Joe post in the existing thread concerning Sierra 4x4? :ylsmoke:

Would seem a bit more appropriate to let Chris address any issues, if in fact there's any truth to this.

@snowhood. I see you are relatively new to the forum. Please supplement your request with all the facts, including the names and any other information. Better, your friend should register for the forum and he can respond directly with the details. If his complaint is verified this community will assist a fellow overlander.

A member who has only made two posts on this forum, both of which call into question the ethics of a business owner, and he's questioning the business owner's ethics over a trailer that's not even his. I think it's justifiable to ask the poster to provide some facts, or better yet, have the person who ordered the trailer actually post some facts. That's less an attack on the poster's integrity than the poster's attack on the integrity of Sierra 4x4 trailers.

So far there are minimal facts provided, so I don't think anyone can take a side until more is known.

Response to Fresno re: Sierra4x4trailers

Fresno, thank you for your support. Yes this is a serious matter that is going to take the effort and support of the overland community since Joe hasn't been able to get any results on his own. Thank you. Even though I am a new member, I did not expect for one moment that a doubtful response would be received on this thread.

Just so you know, before responding to this thread, I spoke with Joe about the replies, he thought it was great that others are willing to support him but he is unsure how it will deliver his trailer. He told me that he will register to the forum and post his response either today or tomorrow 5/31/12. He said all he wants is just to have the trailer that he paid for back in October.

Thanks again Fresno for your positive imput,

Mike

Hi all my wife and I ordered trailer from Sierra 4x4 in november and still can't get a delivery date from chris. He just keeps telling me that the trailer will be ready in a week. He has now told me that for the last six weeks. I can not even get pictures of the trailer or an updated invoice from him. I have a signed contract with Chris that the trailer was supposed to be delivered on jan 28 give or take a week for weather and delays. My wife and I ordered some other options in january, but the options that we ordered did not change the trailer it self. We ordered the side table, rear stabilizer jacks, lp holder and tank. All of what we ordered extra was bolt on stuff. Chris told us that the trailer would be ready in february. Well that came and went. Chris then told us that the trailer would be ready in march. Again nothing. I then spoke with Chris and he told me that he was finishing one trailer on may 4 and that mine and one other trailer would be ready on may 11. Once again nothing. I called Chris and he told me that my trailer would be ready in the middle of the week. I gave him a week and half and then I called him today and he tells me that the trailer would be ready in one or two weeks. I told Chris that I need pictures of the trailer by the end of the day so that I could at least show my wife what we paid for. Chris told me that he understands and that he would send me the pictures, I got nothing! When I ask him were are we with the build of the trailer he told me that the trailer dose not have fenders on and that he still has not pick up the brackets for the awning from the powder coater. My wife and I work very hard for our money and we gave Chris 70% for the trailer and we live two thousand miles from Chris's shop and he acts like we are not the customers. He does not call you back or answer e-mails. I was on vacation last week and was hoping to have the trailer by then. We are getting frustrated!

An attack??

Seriously....?

And in this attack I defended Sierra how?

True or not this seems to be a trend with this company according to several posts on this forum. I was planning on ordering their fenders but I'm not going to risk my money.

I think you need medication...

Well smarty pants, looks like you jumped to conclusions. Joe isn't alone on this one and I was not kidding about Sierra unprofessional business practices.

First step is to contact the better buiness bureau.

How did you pay for the deposit? If you used a credit card, I believe you can cancel or dispute the payment. You can also contact the District Attorneys office and ask about filing a breach of contract.

Hopefully you have saved all correspondence with Sierra trailers.

I agree this so called "Joe" should be the one posting. I have had a Portal vendor try to rip me off and I started a thread on it and did get my drawers.

My wife and I just want our trailer. I pick Sierra 4x4 trailers because we like the small shops that pay attention to detail. But it seams like I just can not get the truth from Chris. He keeps telling me that I will love the trailer. I am understanding about delays, but that is not my fault. Chris never tells you that he is behind or that he is waiting to get some of the parts from different manufactures. Camping season is here and we were hoping to have it by now!

Would seem a bit more "legit" to let Chris address any issues, if in fact there's any truth to this.

@Titanpat57. Please don't compound this. Does it occur to you that calling someone less than "legit" is an insult?

Let's get back to the issue here. I understand there are several forum members that can communicate with Chris. Can someone talk to Chris and get these guys their trailers?

Snow, instead of starting a new thread (and Joe should really be the one posting) why not take the time to search and post to the thread that already has 270 posts in it?
Starting a new thread on the same subject causes forum clutter.
Take the time to search and find a thread already that covers the topic.
It seems searching has become a lost art these days, and most want to be spoon fed without putting any effort forth on their part.
Better yet this thread should be merged with the existing one.

I as a vendor would prefer that a new thread be started, if someone was having an issue with my business practices. The regular Sierra thread is a product show case and I wouldn't want it messed with. With a separate thread, you're allowed to address the issue then let it get flushed through to forum oblivion. Point being, there isn't any netiquette issue with doing it either way.

The credit card company will not do anything, but go after the seller.

Law enforcement will not touch this issue, unless there is fraud involved. Even then, very doubtful they would touch such a small case. And good luck proving an intent to deceive. Your only legal option is civil court.

I'd do what ever I could to get my money back. You're throwing down with Sierra here and I wouldn't trust what he'd deliver as a trailer at this point.

Fortunately for the buyer, internet justice is alive and well. Search Charlie Wenzel and you'll see how it's done. Here's a link, but I think the read on Pirate is the best way to read the story LINK

Hi I’m Joe, 1st of all, I can’t tell you how upset, frustrated, and angry I am about the whole Sierra4x4 trailer fiasco. In 2 weeks, it will be 9 months of this crap. I bought a Sierra4x4 trailer in October 2011, invoice is dated Oct 12, 2011. I paid up-front full price including delivery promised in January, that’s 90 days. Chris who owns Seirra4x4 said he would send pictures and keep me updated via email. About a month later, I started calling every couple of weeks to get updates and pictures. Chris always said he would send pictures the next day, each time, no pictures. When January 2012 arrived, I asked for a delivery date, Chris said he was finishing up my trailer and would delivery it in a couple of weeks, meanwhile he would send pictures. Again, no picture. In February, I started getting worried and called weekly for delivery dates and pictures. Chris made excuses about, losing employees, painting problems, lid issues, etc. and very busy delivering other customer’s trailers to Texas and Arizona and I would have to wait. This sounded normal at first but these crazy events went on each week into March and again in April and still not one picture, not one returned phone call, and more delivery date promises. At this point I am more than very concerned so I started calling Chris 3 to 4 times a week each time getting, no pictures, no delivery dates, no return calls leaving me very frustrated. What am I to do. Clearly, Chris doesn’t care if I ever get a trailer. I can’t trust Chris, his word is simply no good. I spoke with him on May 22, and he said he would personally delivery my trailer so I could use it over the Memorial Day weekend. He never showed. I called and spoke with him yesterday and asked him why he was a no show, and his comments to me was,” ah Joe, I’m busy, I can only do so much”. Judge for yourself, but take it from me, Chris never did return one phone call, never sent one picture, and always promised delivery in 1 or 2 more weeks.

Joe
