Wow, that one is pretty big! We were pretty lucky that Rani is small. She only weighs 28kg so a small Malamute. Im not sure if she is a cross or just wasn't brought up to her maximum potential when developing. Anyway, she is in good hands for now while we foster her. Hopefully her new family will take great care of her.

Very nice dog Sirocco.

Thanks Wainiha :)

They are a brilliant breed and love adventure, so right family for now. He's 105 lbs so a big lad. 9 years old and still loves going away camping. It's nice to see people rescuing them because they can be difficult.

Some of you may remember back in September when we were in the Magadan region of Siberia we visited an old Gulag camp and a completely abandoned city. I have been working on photos of both recently. We are just trying to find out the history of both Kadykchan (abandoned in the late 90's) and the Dneprovski Gulag camp (abandoned as late as 1955!) but the Russian translations are not going too well. If anyone is out on the Road of Bones this year, these two spots are well worth the detour.

More photos to follow.

That is a very sad history USSR has in its books...

More great news from Sirocco Overland.

While I have been working solidly for 6 months to build up our funds I have happened across the chance to take someone else's Land Rover Defender across the Simpson Desert in support of four motorbikes :D We leave on the 15th July and I fly back from Alice Springs on the 26th. I cannot wait to get back out there! Looking forward to sharing a trip report and photos with you all on my return. Keep an eye on facebook for updates as we go to ;)
