I cant see them either. I'm way curious to see the boxes as I have to fab some up for my trailer as well. The suppliers want way to much money.

OK guys, very sorry about the exceeded bandwidth on the pictures. I have corrected the problem now, so all should be fine. :victory:

Very nice. Thanks for the great write up.
I know it has been brought up, but I wounder if you could clarify how the corners work with your method. It looks like the welds are only on the inside of the tube leaving unsupported sheet extending across the face of the tube and terminating at the corner where you grind it flush. You mentioned JB weld used as a filler. Is it applied after the corners are ground? Did you use it along the entire length of each corner to connect the adjacent edges or just in spots? How much did you use?
Your build is an inspiration.

I hope these illustrations help to explain what I did. I used about 6 packs of JB Weld on the whole trailer. I could have used Bondo, but felt it didn't have the gripping power of JB Weld.

might have missed it, but havent seen it yet... ;)

the weight... what did you come up with for the trailer?

Empty & loaded with gear?

I just wonder if its worth it to consider doing it in Aluminum (sure thing to consider cost), but overall weight vs fuel costs may be not such a bad idea.

I still haven't weighed it. If I had fab'ed my boxes out of Aluminum that would have been nice, but I agree the $$$$. I can say the trailer tows just fine (Tacoma 3.4 V6 Manual Trans/ 4x4) and I have no complaints as of yet. My gas mileage is about the same, because now I drive smarter and safer. I'll PM you when I get it weighed.

Nice Job.. very impressive. I am also wondering how much it weighs... especially full of gear water, propane and petrol.

Good job.. inspiring me to trash mine and build another.

I finally got a chance to get the trailer weighed. I originally guessed 800lbs. It turns out to be 1600lbs. I should have figured higher as the HORIZON TRAILER comes in at approximately 1100lbs and mine is a lot like it, but larger.

The weight included a spare tire inside the main box, two full propane tanks, plus 4 filled Jerry cans.

The Jerry cans (5 gallons x 8lbs per gallon of liquid) x 4 = 160lbs

Love the build!!

And I wanted to say thank you for giving me a great idea for the top part of my trailer.

here she is...

I couldn't figure out how to access the top forward area once I separate the top and bottom. Since the bottom is going to have a pull out type Drifta camping kitchen on one side and a large drawer on the other. But on top I wanted to have open storage for the tent, canopy, wood, etc. But getting at it was going to be a pain until I saw how you did you top outside boxes. I like how you built them and it dawned on me to do the same but leave the inside area open and cut the wall through to the box area.

Thank you for the kick in the head!:luxhello:
