A little more work on the trailer today. Mounted the high lift, Got the flag pole mount tucked in as tight as possible.

Replumbed the water tank so the outlet is on the kitchen side.

- Mounted the high lift.
Always intrigues me when people mount their recovery gear to the trailer.
I have no recovery gear on the trailer it is all in and on the car.
When me and my friends set up camp, we usually (unhitch the trailers) head out for some off-roading. It would mean that we'd need to move all the recovery gear from the trailer(s) to the cars before heading off. Plus, I do a lot of day trips without the trailer, so the recovery gear needs to be in the car.

So, if your recovery gear is attached to the trailer... don't you go anywhere once you set up camp?

My jack is mounted to the car:

Perhaps the high lift is for use with the trailer and not related to any vehicle recovery. In over 20 years, I've never had vehicle recovery equipment in my trailer. If I get a flat with the trailer I will need to be able to lift the trailer. The way the rear suspension is such an angle that using a bottle jack would be a bit iffy.

Okay, so it seems that you don't need a high lift jack as part of you vehicle recovery gear then.
I've only used the high lift jack for vehicle recovery a dozen times over the years... and more than half of those, were helping 'other' people recover their cars. I understand that many people with four wheel drive cars would never be in the position to need a high lift jack for vehicle recovery.

What lifting points on the trailer would you use with with the high lift jack? I've never considered it.

A little more work done on the trailer.

Propane tank mounted.

Non slip material affixed to the box top.

Found some boxes that will fit the storage area in the box. Now to figure out how I want to pack what I want to bring. The small AluBox is the cocktail/mosquito control box so that has already been already been allocated.

I'm still waiting on some drawers to configure the kitchen area.

The stock tongue weight of the Smitty is between 350 and 385.
I've just checked my tongue weight, and it comes in at 140 kg with the trailer fully loaded.
I still have to take the trailer to a weigh bridge to check the total weight of the trailer. I'll do that this weekend.

Does anyone have any weight information to share... trailer weight verses tongue weight comparisons...
Would be good to get some real life feedback.

Thanks man! Got it plated and registered yesterday, started loading stuff into the cabinets. I’m going to drive by tepui on Friday or Thursday and talk over my plans to off center load the tent. Broke my fridge handle trying to strap it down :( boooooooo

Nice clean, well balanced/looking setup.
  • Where is the spare?
  • Which wheels are they... they aren't the standard wheels. They do look good.
The spare is under the 4Runner. 9x17 ProComp wheels with 6x5.5 bolt pattern, 2" spacers, MaxCoupler hitch.. Rides like it's not even back there.

Just for ******ts and giggles... Wonder how many people I confused the hell out of driving this setup to Flagstaff from Phoenix. :)
And no, I didn't take the hoe camping. Just wanted to work on the trailer over the long weekend in nice, cool temps so I attached it to our Tactical Baby Transport aka PPV Tahoe.

We will be camping up at the End of the World this weekend, if anyone from Arizona is interested in joining...

I love your rig... it's well thought out and logically set up, and looks well balanced.
Hope you have a great trip this weekend... I look forward to some photos!
