Snow Peak Addiction

I have been putting together a large Pack & Carry Fireplace kit. I found a canvas Carrying Case and a Grill Net on REI's website in stock where it was not on Snow Peak's.
Just saying that there are other web retailers that have inventory available. I now have everything I was looking for!

I know!! I'm regretting looking at it now.... I need to hit up some people in Japan...

I'm legitimately trying to find a reason to visit one of my customers in Japan!

For those looking for pack n carry firepit type stuff, check campsaver.com. They've had a bit of that type of stuff in stock.

Some other great places to get Snow Peak goodies: (still ridiculous that the flagship store bearing their namesake looks like Walmart the day before a hurricane, especially right before Christmas, is BONKERS!!)
Expedition Exchange
Backcountry gear
Amazon
Ebay

I now have put together a fairly complete Large Pack & Carry Fireplace setup and it does occur to me; this stuff is really heavy! With my IGT stuff and all the inserts and stoves and grills - the weight really adds up. The Pack & Carry really strikes me as heavy, I don't mind that much, but it seems to me as opposing the Japanese esthetic. I have been to Japan 3 times and I always thought of them as minimalist. This Pack & Carry Fireplace probably weighs more than my Weber grill. Takes up little space really, but this canvas bag weighs quite a bit! Just wondering if anyone else has pondered this?

I agree on the weight, especially when you add the grill bridge and the grate. That said, thoug, it still packs smaller with all the pieces than most everything I've seen, so that IMO still sticks with the minimalist theory. For me, in the case of SnowPeak, I think it's more about form and function along with simple elegance in the wilderness.

Their backpacking stuff and titanium offerings are light but I understand where you're coming from. I have the medium pack and carry set-up and it too has some heft to it. Now my IGT setup.. THAT is pretty dang heavy when all strapped together... The weight doesn't really concern me though... my vehicle is already about as heavy as a Sherman Tank... lol. SPACE savings is where things are really important in the Land of the Rising Sun.

the weight does add up !
also why my IGT kit is broken up and not all together frame and legs one bag two tables the other and the rest of the stuff in another also makes it so my kids can help and packing unpacking easier

the balance for me is size when packed and size when opened up the IGT frame and 2 tables can spread out for how thin it packs
the insert items such as stove and grill are going to be there no matter what so it comes down to the frame I can cook on put a dutch oven on when hot and the tables give me enough room for a family of 4 with plenty of room
comparing that to say my lifetime fold out table the who IGT setup is much thinner and maybe a touch more weight but so much more versatile

my small charcoal SP grill a roll of paper towels smashed flat fits above the grill under the lid :) inside I fill with as much briquets as I can also which often is enough for two cooks
so even when packing things like this I try to use the dead space use either shopping bags or something for each one pre measured out

I have a small "milk crate" type container I put my Single BBQ Box into and I use a smashed paper towel roll to keep it from rattling on the side.
I posted this after I got the Large canvas bag and put everything in there, lifted it and said - Ugh! It is really flat and compact, weight isn't a big deal for me as I have a full sized 1 ton van. It just occurred to me that a country known for small residences and compact bars and restaurants - maybe when it comes to camping, they just go all out and splurge on bigger is better. The quality is so superior to anything else I have ever known, so that is the big plus. The quality is so high I don't even think it is expensive, but I was surprised when I got all of this in in the bag and lifted it.View attachment 379890
