dammit there's no AZ flagship store :/
SP Japan has the 660 / 830 expandable legs... those would be AWESOME!!
Have a set of four that I grabbed off of Amazon. Worth it just to be able to reduce the total amount of legs that you feel the need to carry. Have four more en-route and I will retire all of my fixed length legs to the spares pile in the shop.
I am looking for a little help here. I have the IGT 4, which seems to be less popular than the 3. I am trying to decide how to use the table the best. I was thinking of cooking in one place and then transfering to another place, but I have noticed that many seem to enjoy cooking and eating at the same place, or rather, doing both at the same time. I am thinking that this would be best. I am hoping the community can help me out with a few questions.
Height: I have the two of the low beach chairs by snowpeak, so I expect the middle height legs might be best, but not sure. I really like the chairs and want to use them. I worry that the sitting level of the table will be a little too high given the "low" sitting beach chair. Would the smallest legs work? If I go with the smallest legs, would it be about the same height as the fire pit?
Grill: I hear great things about the BBQ grill insert, but I have the Snowpeak firepit with the grill. I like using the firepit for a general campsite flame, and it seems redundant to go for the IGT BBQ. I am also trying to keep wieight and volume down, and I am not sure if I want to carry BBQ coal. I like the idea of adding existing fire pit to my cooking area.
Extention table or not: If I am sitting around the table to cook and eat, I am thinking that the table trays that slide into the side like TV dinner tray, as opposed to the larger extention table, might be better. The IGT 4 seems to need two of the smaller per side, but I can't even find these guys listed anywhere. Not even on the Expedition Edchange. Any after market options.
Transport: I can only fine a travel case for the IGT 3, not the IGT 4. However, does the table alone really need a case? Would rain really hurt the plastic or aluminum? All other items wil be kept in boxes, including legs if I don't go for the standing level.
As always- appreciates those with my same addiction help me with an optiomal set up given my goal of sitting around and cooking away from the vehcial, and not trying to do thing from the back of the vehcial.
I run the 4 unit table with two side table extensions and a corner. The full extensions really give you the space you need. I chose the tall height for everything. I have found for food prep and staging buffet style, this works best for me. When eating, we have an old wood roll top table that we set up separately.
When cooking these days, I run a Baja burner and a Skottle with the insert. These two have been able to satisfy all my needs and all together pack down smaller than my old set up. The Skottle really does a lot and is really flexible. If I know I want to grill... I have a pack and carry fire place, magma grill, or Weber Charcoal grill I can bring. But will most likely just carry the pack and carry.
Transport is the biggest frustration.I really want a couple nice padded cases to slip the tables in. However, I will be ordering some of the straps Yuma is selling to put things together. But, I am making due for now. I use the front runner transit bags and wolf packs for my kitchen set up. I found that the 4 unit frame fits perfect in the extra large transit bag with the three boxes in it. right now I just wrap it with part of a moving blanket. In the box would work too. then zip up the bag and strap it down. I havent tried with both extensions yet. Might be just a touch too tight.
Hope this helps.
