Review - IGT Strap Sytem

Here are few more photographs of the straps that Ryan(Yuman Desert Rat) made for me. The construction is top notch. I'll let the photographs speak for themselves.

Shown is a detailed picture of the 10 IGT leg straps, bamboo table straps, and the carrying handle.

Different view!

All put together ready for action. This is an IGT 4 Unit frame and those are the tall 830 legs. I placed 4 round furniture self adhesive pads on the bottom of the IGT table. This creates a nice padded barrier between the IGT table and the bamboo table.

Bamboo table side.

My impressions after using the setup on the last trip. The handle is a nice touch for lifting it up and into the Snow Peak bag. I did notice that if the handle was off center it would slide on the rail system. I think this could be fixed if you simple put the IGT 10 leg straps close on either side of the handle. This would cause enough tension, holding the handle in place. Second minor grip is I'm lazy and threading the IGT legs into the straps is time consuming. With this said once everything is in place you have a very thin and compact carrying system.

Thanks again Ryan for the straps. Your workmanship is outstanding.

Great review! Those legs look longer than the 660s when inside the 4U. I am trying to figure out the optimum 3U strap setup.

Good catch. I was wrong the legs are tall 830. I edited the above post.

Thanks

Gear,

Thanks for the review and the kind words. I'm flattered. when I use mine, I put the leg straps up tight against the handle an it doesn't move a bit. Please let me know if you need anything else or have any ideas you'd like to see implemented on future modifications.

IGT Strap System - request to purchase

Hi Ryan,

I've just trolled through the thread and came across your strap system which I would love to buy if possible. I have an IGT 3 & 4 frame, 8 x 660 legs and 2 x long bamboo tables with a canvass bag. Could you please suggest an appropriate strap system, and provide pricing & method for immediate payment. I'm based in Melbourne, Australia.

Many thanks

Darren

Thanks Darren! I would love to come up with a custom solution for your needs. Im a bit swamped with work right now and haven't had time to make any more straps lately. I have a long line of customers building up but I will start makjng them again soon. I will be in touch sometime next week to come up with what would best suit your needs. Thanks again for your interest!! Cheers.

Well I've begun my Snow Peak collection. :wings: I ordered the IGT 2 unit, extension table and 830 legs. I'm deciding whether to go gas or charcoal with a partner stove or the single BBQ unit.

Go with both! You can't go wrong with either one.

I would say do what I did with my Partner stove so it works inside the IGT frame :)
and get the charcoal SP single or the double :) but I like the single and would rather have two single BBQ than a double :)

you could use either one at any time or setup one or the other along side on the ground or get another 2 space or get a 3 or 4 space table :)

Honu, your mod is where I got the idea for the Partner stove. Nice work.

I also feel that the single BBQ boxes are nicer than the double. The double lacks some of the features of the single, and I like the option of bringing one or both of the singles depending on circumstances. If you go with the Snow Peak stoves, I also think two Baja burners is a better option than their dual stove for the same reasons. The Partner stove is also IMO a better choice than the SP dual stove. The last option to consider is a propane BBQ. Charcoal is great for many things, but it is difficult to use if you need to cook for a long time or you want to get cooking quickly--that is where propane offers a significant advantage.

I also like Honu's Magma Trail grill setup, but I think I'd want one that gets hotter. I'll research some more.
