Sportsmobile vs. XP Camper -- Why the XP Camper Won For Us

...the interior is gorgeous. Heck, if I am going to living part time in it, I want to enjoy my surroundings. Built like a "cold" boat...

"Cold" is exactly right. Looks like livin' in a doctor's office. No thanks ... and I do live in mine.

Flatbeds not useful...you're kidding right? You can side load them, no wheel wells to deal with ... one
of the most versatile truck bed systems out there.

Perfect for towin' a gooseneck horse trailer or for a hay spike on a ranch truck to grab a round bail ... but even then they're ugly.

Carry on.

Seems very open, bright, european and inviting.

I have been in FWC, something my grandfather would own. The Silver Spur is a little better, but still kinda bland.

Since the XP is all smooth, betcha you could do a wrap of what ever picture you wanted...practically endless what you could have the interior look like.

Yeah, not the sexiest thing...useful as F%&@ though...

Most excellent sir!

Problem solved ... get a wrap made of some nice wood grain. :clapsmile

I'm always surprised by how much people value looks on a camper. For me its all about function. If it keeps my warm and dry I don't care if it looks dated, not that I think it does.

Is there one to fit a half ton truck? They have to go on a flatbed? Sorry, I'm female be kind. Just never heard of this and we have a half ton, and this thing looks cool.

XP campers are built for a flat bed... there is a smaller model, but I believe it's for compact trucks. According to their website, there will be a slide in soon... but the XP is over $70,000, kinda pricey.

The original V1 (short for version 1) camper requires a flatbed and a minimum 3/4-ton truck, preferable 1-ton. The V2 is designed for smaller trucks, originally the Tacoma but also larger 1/2-ton trucks like yours. It too requires a flatbed. There is a V3 in development that appears to be a slide-in for 1/2-ton trucks but details are still hard to find. You might check www.xpcamper.com or their forum site, forum.xpcamper.org, for details or to be among the first to know about their new camper development. I keep hearing about more versions for larger vehicles, too, but haven't seen any official announcements I could point you too. I'm sure it will hit here too, as soon as there are any official announcements.

Just a happy customer.
