Start to Home build expo trailer

Hey all so I want to start sourcing some materials for you smaller expo trailer. My goals are pretty simple: to mount an RTT, gear storage, Galley compartment, possibly a water tank at some point.

So I found a trailer frame near where I live and I wanted you guys to take a look at it. Guy says it is a very solid frame and it has a 3500lb chevy drop axle mounted to it. I am a little concerned about how the tongue is mounted on top the frame...have a look. Would this be a decent foundation to build off of or no? Will be pulling with JKU...

Thanks guys/gals

I jumped right to your link without reading what you posted and we came to the same conclusion. My only thought was that the tongue should be replaced with one that went under the frame and farther back into it, may be to the first cross member in front of the wheels. It looks like that would be fairly easy to do. It appears to be channel iron which is good for weight. I have something that is similar and it will be easy to reinforce the frame in places where it needs it. At $250 that's a pretty good start to a trailer and probably worth it in materials alone. If you're thinking of building one from scratch the hardest part is getting started so you'd at least have that part covered!
