Suspension Modifications F350

I have a '19 f350 supercab, long bed with the 6.2 and 3.73 gears.
I added 35" duratracs and run them at 60-65psi empty and loaded. My camper is about 2000lbs wet weight.
35" tires fit stock, zero rubbing. I can still get a set of v bar chains on the back but the front would be a bad idea. The truck handles the camper fine with the stock suspension. There is a bit of sway when going over things at low speed (think speed bump taken slowly sideways) but on the highway and in turns it's not noticable at all.
I take the camper on and off all the time. It's pretty fast to use a drill. I'd say I can have it off the truck in about 5 minutes and on in under 10 minutes. It just takes a bit longer to get lined up and lowered in properly.
It's off after every camping trip and even when we are out hunting and need the bed if we get lucky.
Dirt roads are no problem.

Good to know! What camper is that?

We have 35s and they fit no problem. Even aired up in the spare location. Stock shocks are useless on harsh wash board imo if you want to go faster than 3mph. For your intended use the Carli Backcountry kit with air bags is probably a good route. Progressive leafs are awesome but $2000 goes along ways towards all kinds of things. Get the truck and talk to CJC. They are super helpful and don't try to upsell. We have Carli level springs with Accutune Fox DSC.

Tremor had the same leaf springs as other trucks but with the 17-19 blocks. The front coils are taller. The front sway bar is softer and the shocks are valved different. There's no reason it couldn't carry a camper. It doesn't matter since it doesn't come in the cab/bed configuration you want?

The 17-19' trucks are silly tall. Your 22' leveled with 35s will be a good balance. He's my leveled 19' next to a Tremor. Both trucks had 285/75R18

Thanks! I’ll check ‘em out.

We‘re in the PNW BTW. Also, I have no problem with the Tremor. My suspicion though is that he doesn’t carry 2500 pounds on the back. ;)

I think the 8' bed is the better route for your use, for sure. I just meant that you'll be truck buddies with him

That looks ideal! Is that 2.5 or 4.5?

I’m quite a ways from CJC, but no one knows Carli like them. I think I’d make the drive.

I’m bucking the color trend and going white also. I love color, but the trees and shrubs don’t. The deck and boxes will be raw aluminum. It will essentially be like they do the forest fire rigs in the PNW, designed to be pinstriped.

2.5". Honestly I didn't want it taller. I wanted it to ride and drive better. It is much better! I'm building an aluminum flatbed this fall with storage boxes. Basically what you're wanting to do.

Yea, I wouldn't want it taller either. How did you decide Backcountry vs. Pintop? The Backcountry looks fully sufficient for our needs. Did you bag or spring? I'm a bit conflicted on that. I don't think we'll ever pull the camper. Bags are obviously adjustable if we do, but add much more complexity to fail.

I was going to do the back country. We bought used and found a truck for $14k under our budget. We felt fortunate considering the market over the last year. Since we saved on the truck I opted for Fox DSC from Accutune. I choose them because Carli's gas truck kits have hit the market yet she my buddy was trying to build an order for his shop to be an Accutune dealer.

Right now I'm running just the stock camper package leafs. No air bags. The adjustable shocks really control the springs. Our camper is lighter than what you are planning. It's too heavy for the regular springs and to light for the huge camper overloads. It fluctuates from super plush to super harsh. We'll most likely order leaf springs from Alcan here in Colorado. I've used them in the past and had good experiences. Our camper doesn't come off. Once we do the flatbed I'm going to bolt the FWC to the truck. No more turn buckles!

The camper we're looking at is spec'd at 1262 lbs, but Truck Camper Magazine estimates it would be 2194 lbs without occupants (dry weight, 1,262 pounds + 30 gallons fresh, 250.2 pounds + 3 gallon full hot water heater, 25 pounds + 30-pound full propane tank, 27 pounds + 2 batteries, 130 pounds + stuff, 500 pounds = 2,194.2 pounds). So, it's not a tank like an Eagle Cap, but the weight adds up. I don't want to flirt with GVWR like I discovered I've been doing on the Silverado.
