Ripperj you made me bust out laughing. I sure will do! All of us on this thread should meet mid way at a campground some day and compare gear

Btw, I think I figured out why the blackout edition is so appealing to me. When we were kids, my brother and I played Kato and Green Hornet on our bikes all the time. Both of us wanted to be cops when we grew up. Sadly, neither of us pursued our dreams. I still regret it but, now at least I have my look-alike, image.jpegold-school, blacked-out "cop car".

I'm just looking at these photos again. My new worry is that I ordered satellite radio. Do you think the satellite antenna will be in the way? Doesn't look like much space between the truck cab roof and the camper cab-over bottom.
Also, any recommendations on insurance? How do you insure yours? I was quoted $1,487 for 6 months for truck and camper. That seems ludicrous.

My 2012 Ram sat ant is only about 3/4" high, unless they went with a new style I wouldn't worry

The new ones are shark fins. Thanks for posting the link. I found other posts. The problem seems to be related with reception vs. physically in the way. People are posting similar questions about relocating it. Fun!

tailgate: we use ours as a "front porch" (and love it) - I have the built-in step as well, a nice feature. Combined, it makes camping with our toddler much safer. Of course, our TC doesn't have the wrap.

insurance: it's not a vehicle, so no reg (isn't that the best part of a truck camper???), so rv or vehicle insurance isn't needed. I did go one extra step, mine is covered under a special schedule of homeowner's insurance (same schedule used for things like jewelry). Cost me a whopping $40 per year at full replacement cost.

gap: looks minimal, but it's more than 3". I would be shocked if you had clearance issues. That being said, I haven't seen any TC650's on newer Ram's, so that's a blind guess. All trucks and campers have a slightly different bed height to cab height ratio. But you said you're getting it from Truck Camper Warehouse? Don't worry, Bill and Ryan will take care of it. Easy to add a small spacer if needed.

Front porch? Not sure I follow. Do you mean you just left it on and drop it down? How is it safer for toddler? Could I use same concept for keeping dogs contained.
Thanks for the insurance info.
Ram said the antennae will clear.

First camp plans are underway. La Porte county triathlon first weekend of August, 2016. Then camping overnight at Kankakee campground, then two rivers century bike ride, then waterpark afterwards. We do this every year. It's a fun weekend if anyone is into swim/bike/run.
