Doctorit: I came to exactly same conclusion after sleeping on it. Sometimes it's hard to curb that instant gratification impulse. But at this price, I want exactly the look and feel I want. And lose the features I don't really care about and don't want to pay for. Yes, they're luxurious, but I'm not used to them so I'll never miss them.

Sorry for the silence, guys (and gals if there are any in this thread). I've been trying to catch up on my life since I'm no longer putting insane swim/bike/run miles on my body. Also, I'm still searching for the perfect vehicle and wanted to spare you all the gory details of how awful it is for a woman buying a big truck by herself. They just don't take you seriously! I had one guy ask me "What do you do that you need such a big truck?" I should have said, "Oh, I just need it to haul around the biggest vanity mirror I can find." ****** Would he have asked a guy that?? I had an appointment at another dealer on Wednesday, 8/5 at 3:45pm. The salesman wasn't even there for our apt! He took off with another customer. I gave him 53 minutes, then left and won't return. GRRRRR Rant over....
Anyway, I think I found "the truck" last night and am going to test drive it today. It is only missing one of my "must have" features (an adjustable foot pedal (these trucks are made for big men and my foot has a hard time reaching the pedal)). If they can swap the pedal for a longer one, this might be a done deal tonight :) Here are the specs. Will post pic later. Having hard time uploading pic from desktop. Will try from Iphone. Again, I wasn't ignoring you and have thought of you all often. Just hadn't had any definitive news to report until now. Thanks again, all of you for all of your insight and help. I really appreciate everything you all have contributed to this search! P.s. This truck has a sunroof!!! :)))))

I checked with the dealer because there was something gnawing at me, too. They said it's a 6'4" bed (I have yet to see it in person and dealers lie just to get you in the door). But, I finally found what was bothering me. In the RAM slide-in truck camper guide:
https://www.ramtrucks.com/download/pdf/manuals/2015-RAM_15_25_35-Camper-Guide-3rd.pdf
they have a thing called the CWR (Cargo Weight Rating). If I went with the mega cab(Page59), my camper exceeds the CWR. So, I'll probably order one in a crew cab. However, I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer about discrepancies I found in their camper guide. On Pages, 61, 71, and 76, they list 3 different CWRs for the Ram 2500 4x4, 6.4L...Crew Cab, 6'4", bucket seat truck with a 10,000 CVWR. I may be missing something, but Page 61 has CWR:2139.2, Page 71 has CWR:2636.9, Page 76 has CWR:2072.8. And, they appear to all be the same vehicle. Mystifying.
Update on the bed. I just simulated a build on the ramtrucks.com website. It allowed me to build a mega cab with a 6'4" bed.

That's cool on the bed, Im pretty sure when I got my '12 2500 that I had to get the crew cab for the 6'4 bed.
The crew cab is pretty big, the inside of the new mega cabs must be huge! Do you really need/want all that extra space?

The storage would have been geeat, but the truck won't work because of the cwr. I didn't even bother going. I'll wait until the 2916s start rolling in so I can see them in person. Then order.

Mystifying.
Yup!

I think I said it before, even the salesmen don't have a clue. Just find one on a lot "close enough" and look at the door sticker, then order one the same (even then, the numbers won't match exactly). The guides and websites are just confusing.

Consider joining www.cumminsforum.com or similar Dodge Ram forum and posing the question of what dealership they successfully ordered through.
I used Dave Smith Motors in Idaho eight years ago. Great experience but there's a wealth of knowledge out there on those forums.
The salesperson is extremely important.
