Here's my Expedition Fat Bike. I built the frame from scratch, cutting up and re-using old chromoly mtn bike parts. Total investment into the bike is $350 and a little time cutting and welding. Will be stripping and painting soon. The reason I built this is because IMO no one makes a frame with ideal geometry for an expedition/exploration bike. I'm convinced that a short wheelbase, short chainstay's, and high bottom bracket make the ideal bike for maximum off road capability. Mainstream bike geometry is designed for going fast and racing type riding, not going slow and clearing obstacles which fat bikes are very well suited for.

My testing thus far has confirmed my speculation and this bike rides awesome. It has a 14" high BB, 42.5" wheelbase, 16.5" chainstay's, and fits 5" fat tires. This thing just rolls over everything. The combination of high BB, short WB and CS allows me to ride through areas I couldn't on my last bike. My last standard geometry fatbike was always hitting pedals and getting hung up when trying to ride technical off-trail terrain. My next frame build will be a full suspension with the same geo that also takes 5" wide tires.

I think eventually we will see a new breed of fat bike designed for off road exploring/adventuring with geometry like this, once people start using fat bikes to their full potential off trail and realize the limitations of current geo trends.

Easy access to my food is more important to me. I really hate stopping to eat. I am a eat every 15 min kind of guy. One or two small bites and a swish of osmo every 15 minutes works wonders for me.
I admit I was kind of concerned when the bike was brand new...but now after some chain suck...falling over on some rocks and scratching a chainstay...and a bunch of other little blemishes...I really don't mind anymore...I considered tape under the straps/bags but I was too lazy...:) I always ran a bento box type bag from xlabs on my tri bike and even had it on my cross bike for day trips...this bag is much better and holds plenty of stuff...
The bags really don't move at all...I am sure there will be some wear from dust and debris but overall there is very little movement...

Sorry for the driveway shots.
Here are a few of my Masi cxss that I have up for sale locally as I've had too much fun on the fatback this spring. Still culling the herd is hard.
On-One Midge Bars, Thomson Elite stem and Masterpiece post, Kore cantis, crank, rims, Oury grips and Modolo brake levers, KCM x10sl chain, 20T White Ind freewheel, carbon fork. Just under 20 lbs with the 45c tires/tubes and brooks saddle.
Love those bags! I am concerned they will rub into the carbon fiber frame. How is yours holding up?

With my two bags on the Easton EC70 carbon bars and seat post I have no visible wear.
