You'll know if this doesn't go back together right, because she'll have a small block chevy in there! I'm going back to jeeps.[/QUOTE]

Hey 24
Having just looked at this very same image on my 80 I can feel your pain. I just R&R my engine with a new factory short block and the frustration level was pegged a few times. I am back together and running fine now, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I figure I have about 40 hrs into the R&R.

Now to your new engine. I like the idea of building for the SC. One this you mentioned is "O" ringing the block. Great Idea. The other thing I thought of is, why not go ahead and stud the block while you are in there. "O" ringing and running studs instead of the stretch bolts would ensure that you have done your very best at building for forced induction and would be comforting in the future if you wanted to play with boost pressures.

Just my thoughts,
Good luck to ya.

Thanks for the light at the end of the tunnel. The encouragement comes in handy to get this thing back on the road in a timely manner, so I can work on the "Fun" projects.

Yes, the bolts will be replaced with ARP Studs. I just got the part numbers yesterday since ARP does'nt offer a LC specific kit. I'm also going with a copper headgasket that has steel fire rings built into it.

I can't wait to get this thing mobile again.

Still waiting for the machine shop. Today they said to call back in the middle of next week. If this lasts much longer, I'm ordering a short block.

Any idea what the hold up is? I can understand your frustration, it would be killing me also.

By the way the valve cover looks awesome. The best I did with mine was clean it up and hit with aluminum spray paint.:p

Thanks Jack

yeah, I know what the hold up was. He had four big dollar motors and put me behind them. He ended up throwing in some extra work due to my patience and I should be able to pick everything up monday. We will see.

The valve cover came out pretty bright. I figured I had time to kill so why not get it coated.

Yes, Robbie aka PowderPig is here at the house. My pistons have not arrived yet so he installed the lift on my dads FJ yesterday and today we are installing the Long Ranger aux. fuel tank.

It's busy work to keep us occupied until the pistons arrive (It feels backwards, installing a tank in a truck with no motor but with no pistons what else can we do). Which should have been three weeks ago.

Fitting the aux tank with the 4x4Labs bumper is adding some time to the project and I'm very appreciative to have Robbie here to do it. He deserves the professional and expert reputation that has follows him.

I just got off the phone with 24HRS...

Not running yet, but serious progress is being made (engine assembly). I bet by this time next week the Green Giant will be logging break-in miles!
