Pretty cool Andre. I think you should make that rack narrower to match the roof width. You won't lose that much cargo space and you do have an entire truck bed to haul stuff. :ylsmoke:

Its the last 10% of the work that takes 90% of time and money. Course you've heard me say that a million times :D

Can't wait to see this thing rolling under its own power, I'm thinking we should plan some sort of a run this summer to celebrate. HITR this fall? Is that the rack that was at my place for awhile? The one from the burner dude? I don't remember it being quite that big?

Correct from that guy, and this was the size of it... It definitely looks bigger on the Toyota as well of course because the roof is so much smaller. It looks better in person as well I feel...

iirc some of the ford starters had remote solenoids. would that help? sweet build by the way.

Good to know, I tried to find one online and never could...

thanks guys for all of this... See how it comes together. I also talked to Luke and he also had good ideas and advice as well and I guess some earlier adapters also had some interference issues with a small bolt on the back of the flywheel as well, so I'll look at all of this...

Hi guys,

I am sorry for the delay on updates for this. The project was largely designed for an event we did (mentioned earlier in the thread) called the Carbon Neutral Expedition that was April 10 for about 10 days to the Overland Expo (including this event). From there it will morph to become my vehicle for at least the next couple years (possibly personally) while we do a couple more Carbon Neutral Expeditions, including a hardcore one in the fall that is more technically and smaller amount of vehicles, and then one again next spring more similar to the original CNE I.

Because I wasn't able to finish it for this event and I had a lot of things building up in the time while I was working so hard on it I basically took a step back and paused a hair while I got a lot of other things in order, besides unfortunately also burning out a hair as well. The good news is a lot of other things have worked out pretty well that I am excited for but I am starting to focus now back on getting the last of this truck done.. The reality is (and I have two of these projects) is it takes absolutely huge amount of work to get things like this done and that is the problem.. This is why good shops are also so hard to come by, because it just takes so much labor to get these things done. As they say it the last 10% takes 90% of the time to get it done so that there will also be many more updates as well hopefully, a lot of which I really look forward to getting done and also posting updates on..

So hang tight.. The next major event I was planning to use the vehicle for (which in my eyes have allowed me to excuse the progress on it, for now) is Carbon Neutral Expedition II in September or possibly October some time for about 5 days (departing on a Wed evening, needing to meet in the Moab area or perhaps central San Rafael Swell area) and then proceeding south in the Dark Canyon/Canyonlands Wilderness to the 4 Corners Region which will be a fun, technical route that varies considerably from down near the Colorado to way high in the area between there and 4 Corners/Mexican Hat area... So if anyone is interested feel free to ping me. Technical requirements would be about 31/32" tires minimum and at least 1 locker. It will be limited to 4 vehicles in addition to my own as well. CNE II will be considered a "hardcore" run while we resume CNE III in the spring which is closer to the one we already did, which is lots of (mostly mellow) miles with epic terrain and views, more along the lines of what is stereotypically thought of as "Expo."

So an FYI....

thanks a lot guys for being so patient with this as well....

If there is a vote, I'm up for September. I may already have to decline some stuff in October. :ylsmoke:

thank you guys..

One thing on this one though it is will be a smaller group and first category that will dictate that is a genuine alternative fueled vehicle first and foremost (combined with a good, reliable, and proven crew of people) this time around so we don't get some of the shenanigans that now appear to be plaguing CNE I (though it was possibly one of the best 4WD trips of my life, personally, and I would wager that possibly everyone shared something close to this opinion, perhaps). So that qualifies the famous, legendary Gifu... Kurt may possibly ride or perhaps drive this truck, and at this point the only gasoline powered vehicles I may permit are perhaps a few ADV-type riders if I can get a few interested in coming. It sure would make life for them easy to be able to haul some of their stuff...

So this is my $.02 on this. Since we lost our Overland Journal article I am now going to finally post a complete writeup about it some time in the very near future, once I let some of my nerves calm unfortunately...

Keep up the good work, do not know what all the contravercy is over but do not get tied up in Internet BS is slows everything down. Focus on the truck and enjoy it.
