I'm eager to maybe see one at Expo East (fingers crossed) as I want to crawl around inside. Due to the battery pack it looks like a really high floor in back. We were dead set on buying an '18+ 200 this winter/next Spring, but may very well hold out and see if we can get into a '24 for nearly the same coin if it checks the right boxes for us. I've no issue scouring the entire country for a dealership that doesn't want to get stupid.
Yeah, I am very interested to look at this one a little closer. I wonder if this will push 200 series prices down. I'm guessing if the price point holds, once they are out there it might get really hard to sell a 200 for 80K...lol

Really pleasantly surprised here - knowing its not the same as a 200/300 I think it could be a real all around winner. As others said, I think it punches the ticket that Defender / others can't. Also as others have said - hoping to find one where the dealers aren't a total pain in the ass...

The new LC is not that much different in size than the 200 Series it replaced.

Compared with its predecessor, the new LC is 1.2 inches shorter at 193.7 inches long, but the two have an identical 111.2-inch wheelbase. Both versions are also 78 inches wide, but the new one is just under an inch shorter at 73.2 inches tall.

According to this Yahoo article, the new model is 4.4" narrower.

Yeah...I see it as a win-win for us ;). The big question for us is...when? I've seen conflicting into that it'll be here in Spring '24...orrrrrr Spring '25. We sold our 1st gen Sequoia expecting to get a Grenadier, until being sorely disappointed in the direction that went. Should've waited on that sale, but...oh well. We were deadset on a '18+ 200 to complement our '21 Power Wagon camper build either this winter or next spring. Being on the East Coast there are just a lot of places the RAM doesn't fit. Options are good! I dunno if we can wait until 2025. But if prices start plummeting on 200s in the meantime, that could help move the needle.

I don't see any way that prices stay where they're at for 200s once these come out unless there's a massive backorder and/or dealers get Bronco-level stupid with pricing.

The first units come out next Spring ('24) with production ramping up into the Summer months. My guess is these will be hard to get for all of 2024.

C&D are known for typos.

Direct from Toyota, it’s 4.4 inches narrower and 1.2 inches shorter than the 200-series. This definitely puts it more towards the 4Runner territory. We’re getting the Prado version.

I saw and sat in the GX550 at OE PNW. It's much tighter and smaller inside than my 200 series LC. It felt very similar in size to my old 5th gen 4R inside.

But it also has the same 112" wheelbase as the 200 series, and 80 series for that matter. I like that it's narrower. I expect that it will be most dimensionally similar to the 80 series, which is good news.

Edit: In fact, some of the early hands-on reports from LC experts say that it feels most similar to (in fact "just like") an 80 series.

Manufacturers typically don’t go smaller with new gens. Look at the progression of the LC’s through the years. It’s not a surprise that the Prado is similar in dimension to the 80. My old Honda Accord is actually smaller than the new Civic. That’s just how it works.

It’s not a knock we got the Prado. I think it looks great and will make an excellent offroad rig. For me, however, it’s not a consideration with 3 kids. Even if it does have 3rd row.

I'm curious to see and compare dimension and capacity data of the 250 against the 80, 100, 200, and 300.

That said, I wouldn't consider the 250 if I had three kids either. It's effectively a four seater for the US. It won't be offered initially with a third row (the GX 550 will), and, from pictures I've seen, the center seat of the second row looks uncomfortable and compromised by a transmission hump.

I do wish it came with an option sans hybrid drivetrain. I understand it adds to the range but even in my heavy LC getting 12mpg on a good day, I never had an issue getting fuel (as long as I planned right). The extra cargo capacity would be welcome, however.

I suspect that there will be a GR version in future years with a front locker and the V6.

I'm wondering, as many are, about the ground clearance. 8.7" of ground clearance with 33" tires is a little concerning. Also, the departure angle is not great, and there will probably be little improvement with aftermarket options. I was surprised to see that they dropped the e-KDSS. An electronically disconnecting front swaybar is nice, but doesn't improve road driving. Based on tests by Tinkerer's Adventure, KDSS seems to offer better articulation off road than a disconnected front swaybar.
