There Will Be Dust • Southern Arizona Benefit Ride

Kermit, any chance you could send me the GPS tracks so I can pre load them?

Gotta pay to play. :ylsmoke:

Our main focus is raising money for the food bank, so we are only sending out tracks to people who pre-registered, you can do that today and thru tomorrow.
We will have "some" preprinted roll-charts and being to able download GPS tracks the day of the event, sign in is from 6-8:00 am. Info for pre-registration is on the
flyer.

Hope you can understand, why I can't give out the tracks to people who haven't preregistered.

We only have USB cables for Garmin, so if you have another brand, bring your own USB cord.

I totally understand. I'll see y'all first thing Sunday morning.

I'm running a Garmin Rino 530HCX. I'm pretty sure it uses the standard mini USB cable.

Judging by the posts on FB there wasn't much dust, but I think everyone probably had a blast just the same.

With nearly two days of rain, you wouldn't think there wouldn't be any dust, but there was a little. Dirt and weather turned out to be perfect!
I would of posted up more pictures, but was too busy.

Turn out was good, about 40 riders. Final numbers aren't official, believe we raised just a hair over $1000. We bought too much food, so we donated
what was left to the food bank in Amado.

Flat 10 miles from the end, sweeping the hard route...the dirt was too primo
to ride it in on a tire with no air.

Had a great time yesterday! I clocked 428 miles on the day with 160 or so off road. Now for the pics and video!

Glad you guys had fun, that mileage you two did was pretty impressive! I rode the part of the route for next year's two event on Saturday, will be in the 220 mile range and a bit harder.

I am going to throw your video on the FB page.

More than we expected. Believe the rain drove away some, but on the other hand it also brought people in. Had a lot of last minute sign ups.

Nothing official yet, we are considering holding the next one in the spring, since the weather is still nice here. (why wait a full year, right?) First day will be a bit harder, I have a 200+ mile loop, with a higher level of difficulty (plus an easy big bike route in there)...with a banquet that night, and a scenic route on Sunday...most likely use the same route we did for this first event, for those that missed it, or those that want to ride it again.

Today we dropped off $1000 to the Community Food bank.

Thank you to everyone that donated and helped with the ride!

Happy Holidays!

Looks like it was a great event. I was sorry I had to miss it...
Hopefully next year...

"Maybe" in March 2014, we were talking about that today. Look for an official announcement in January.

From the Community Food Bank:

"The first There Will Be Dust Ride to fight hunger by the Trail Riders of Southern Arizona was a success! Because of their generosity, we will be able to distribute over 4 thousand meals to local people in need this holiday season. Thankful to everyone for coming together around the cause of fighting hunger in our community!"

Kermit,
Great finally meeting you in person. You guys put on an excellent ride! Mind if I use some of your pics in my upcoming newsletter?

For those of you who don't know them... TRS is a cool club based down in Tucson. They are helping my program lay out a trail reroute in December that will hopefully be the gateway project to getting some new single track built for southern AZ in a couple of other locations. If you have the chance, get out and ride their events. I'm glad I got to!
