Three weeks in Oregon

Well done! Thank you for sharing!

What was the most memorable? Was there anything you wish you had done , but did not?
Did you have all that you needed, or was there something that you wish you had brought?

Do you have more details on which roads you took?
Thanks!

Here I am experimenting with drawing routes on google maps. So far I've just traced a couple of roads in Hells Canyon area.

paulj - where is the covered bridge located?

From your pic sequence it looks to be between Gold Beach and Bandon but can you offer some specifics? I've done the southern coast a few times but don't recall that bridge. Were you able to drive your vehicle through/on it?

Nice shot from Bandon. We spent the second half of our honeymoon in Bandon by the Sea, a real personal favorite of mine.

We stopped at two covered bridges. The first was the McKee bridge on the Upper Applegate road. This is south of Jackson/Medford. I believe the date is 1917. It is now pedestrian only. This on the east side of the Coast mountains, quite close to California.

The second was at Westfir (Oakridge), at the start of FS 19 (connecting 58 and 126). This can still take traffic, and is quite substantial, with triple beams. I believe it used to take logging traffic.

Another that was tentatively on my route was at Wimer, north of Rogue River on the Evans Ck Road. But we got to the Medford area on Sunday afternoon of Memorial Weekend, and I was more concerned with finding a campsite for the night.

My DeLorme map indicated there were a number of forest service sites in the Applegate Res. area, hence I headed down that way. Somewhat blindly I wandered up the Squaw Ck road east of the lake. We ended up settling at a 'dispersed' site on a short spur off the main road.
