Time to decide on the new tires for my 2007 LR3 HSE - It has 19" wheels on it now but I just scored a set of 4 10-spoke 18" wheels off craigslist so I'll be going to 18" tires.
The two top contenders are the Cooper Zeon LTZ in 285/60R18 and the BFG AT/KO in 265/65R18 which are about $250 more than the Coopers for a set of four.
I've had BFG AT's before on my Range Rover and was very unimpressed with their performance in mud but they were good on the highway and general off road use.
I think the Coopers are a better tread pattern for the North Georgia conditions (mud. red clay) but I was wondering how long they will last (a set of Cooper STT's didn't last 25,000 miles on my D-90).
I'm guessing from all the reading I've done lately that the Cooper LTZ's are good for 35,000 - 45,000 miles - the BFG's for 40,000 - 45,000? Are the BFG's worth the extra $250?
I like the tall and skinny look - 235/85R16's work best on my D-90 which will still be the go to vehicle for any serious off road adventures.
I'm leaning toward the Coopers but sorta like the BFG size better - any words of advice from the other LR3 owners?
Another big question - do the TPMS sensors in the 19" wheels also work in the 18" wheels - the new 18" 10-spokes don't have TPMS sensors but I have them in the 19" wheels.
