Right, finally after a few years of rocking a 2wd comanche. Then cutting that truck in half and building a doved truggy and left over parts and never wheeling it. I am finally back into an XJ, which as you will see in this build thread, is a lot of work for what will ultimately be a stock jeep.
enter "the brave little toaster", "warpig", "the beater", or "#racejeep" depending on who you talk to and who may have been a previous owner.
This jeep was owned by a few friends before I rescued it from becoming a parts jeep for other people. unfortunately I don't have many pictures of it sitting on the uniframe with only a front axle and no suspension in it. But I will save ya'll the boring bit. picked it up from my buddy with all the parts to put it together along with some cash for my truggy. Slapped it together with some ZJ axles, worn out suspension, and some old E rated 31's and was surprised that it actually moved. And then came the most interesting bit. Less than a week after putting it together and working out little problems like shorts in the wiring and alignment issues. I loaded it to the brim with house hold goods, hooked up a Uhaul that was way too big for what we needed and loaded that all the way up with stuff and moved across country. In a jeep that three weeks prior everyone thought was going to end up as a scrap.
The jeep pulled nicely for not having any swaybars, and other than some minor non break down faults. Tcase started leaking, had to remove the front driveshaft because of vibes, and the floor catching fire from the muffler being jammed up against it. All went well, and my Fiancee dubbed the jeep the Brave Little Toaster. because its a box and it got toasty inside after 10 hours of highway speeds.
She approves of the jeep, and with it surviving a 14 hour cannonball from Colorado to Texas the long way round. I figure it is about time to make a nice XJ for once. So with all the exposition out of the way, here we are at present day.
