Towing Nightmare!! 7.3 Help Needed??

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I don't currently have a scanner I'm going to try to borrow one this week. Eventually I need to get something for my self.

I'll also have to check the fuel/fuel system. I figured since the pump is pretty new and I drive it enough to cycle the fuel through it that would not be the problem, but maybe I did pick up some bad fuel/water at some point.
Is pulling the fuel filter the best place to start on that one??

Just scanned.
CPS code (changed yesterday) guessing it is stored even though I changed it out.
ICP?

Any other tests I should run while I have the scanner?

My only experience with P0340 was resolved by replacing a CPS pigtail.

P1211 is either HPOP or IPR or IPS related. It means your injection pressure is out of spec.

God damn that could have been BAD! And when I needed my 12k rig towed, I found one company that had equipt to do it. then thier truck broke down o the way to me.... But I was in the middle of nowhere, definitely a good idea to keep a good towers list in the car

That tow truck looks a bit small for a 9,000lb ambulance :Wow1: :yikes: Those H1 rims look good, the wrap is not fooling anyone...H1 rims scream SWAT van!

HAHA!! I never thought SWAT van.
I do like the H1 setup. It allowed me to run wider tires and single out the rear while keeping the dually front hubs.

Yeah might be left over codes, I show P0340 Inactive CMP Sensor Circuit and P1211 ICP Pressure Is Above/Below Desired, Faulty IPR Valve

I'd unscrew the fuel filter and see if there is any fuel in the bowl. Drain the filter bowl and clear all the codes. Give is a few cranks and see if the fuel bowl fills up and if it thrown any new codes. Also, double check that the CPS pigtail got reconnected properly and the sensor is fully seated.

Is your tach moving when you crank? If so, that's usually a good indication if the CPS is working, if your tach is dead it's not getting signal from the CPS.

If it's getting fuel to the fuel bowl, then I'd suspect ICP or HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump-opens the injectors) you can check the Injector Control Pressure sensor (ICP) (on the drivers side oil rail) sometimes they get gunked up.

P1211 could be the problem and P0340 could be caused by not connecting the CPS when replacing it. Solve 0340 then 1211 in that order. My .02.

Yes I will probably be looking for the PVC beadlocks from TWF at some point I have a spare set of rims I want to mount up without the runflats so I can air down more. Currently running the Goodyear OZ tire want to find out more about the BFG load range E tire that some run.

FWIW Trail Worthy FAB has excellent deals on H1 rims, recenters, PVC beadlocks, and 37" tires.

Welllll, don't know that I'd call it excellent. I bought my last two sets there, 10 combos total, the last being about 4 yrs ago, and this latest set cost me almost $1,000 more than it did those 4 yrs ago. I understand inflation and all but come on.....

His recentered 12 bolt wheel and tire combo is $200... 4x$200= $800 for a set of four recentered double beadlocks with four 37" tires, by my math that's less than what one Hutchinson double beadlock ($440) with one 37" KM2 ($408) would cost you ($848).

Sorry for the hijack...now back to CJKen's thread.

Since Ken is interested in tires n such, I dont figure it's a hijack, and I just bought those wheels/tires. $200 gets you just the bare re-centered rim. If you want it powder coated when they're done it's another $50 each. If you want the pvc beadlock, it's another $50 each. If you want tires it's a MINIMUM of $125 for 75% tread Goodyear take-offs. 95% tread are $200+ each. So...that $848 isn't happening by any stretch, unless you're just buying re-centered, weld burned basic rims. Plus shipping btw.

Web page is a bit misleading if you're just glancing through.
