I have a question for those of you that are towing with the 5.7 v8 tundras.
Seems like make towing is around 9.8-10k. Are any of you getting close to that pulling campers, heavy trailers, horse trailers?
If so how does the truck do going up and down grades ? Braking etc?
Thanks

I had an '07 that was great towing. I towed a 6,000 pound boat with it and a 1,600 pound cargo trailer. Plenty of power and braking. In fact, I used it over my 2018 F150 3.5L twin turbo. I am not sure what your question is, "9.8-10k"? Miles is the only thing I can think of that would be about 10,000???? Grades are no problem.

thank you.

I think towing capacity on these depending on the package is around 9.8k-10k correct? That is what I was referring to.
I have never towed with a Tundra. I drive a HD Diesel Ram. I have never worried about towing capacity or payload for my needs .

I was thinking if a guy needs to tow live in horse trailer and a horse. You will be pretty close to capacity. I was wondering how the truck would do towing that heavy of a load.

I am asking b/c I saw a a unicorn tundra the other day. It was an 07-13 reg cab Pyrite Mica color.
I have always loved that color and this version of the tundra it reminds me alittle bit of the 03-09 rams.
I started toying with the idea of trying to find a Reg. Cab 07-13 Pyrite Mica 5.7 v8 and flat bed it .
I thought it would be a pretty great back country truck.

I would guess same thing I do about many Toyota situations - it'll be reliable AF and suck down some gas. Braking should be up to the trailer, not additional on the truck.

I don't recall payload but it had plenty of power left when towing my boat. Obviously it won't be anything like your HD Diesel Ram but was a lot better than most 1/2 tons. Especially compared to my F150.
