Toyo OPEN COUNTRY A/T II

Here, the RED LETTER grabbers are cheaper than most all other brands etc. I know the difference between the AT2 (really good tire), and the RED LETTER grabber (total crap for DD rig). The AT'2 are cheaper again.
I drove an '05 Dodge Ram CTD with General Red Letters and could hardly keep the sucker in a lane. It drove like it had 15 psi.

I have been running 285/75/16 Toyo Open Country AT2s on my '04 DCSB Tacoma since May. Prior to it was a set of Treadwright Wardens/BFG AT copies (65k with lots of tread yet, just too noisy). It was between the Toyos, Duratracs and General Grabber ATs. I liked the 60k mileage on the Toyos. I have to say, they have done better than I expected in about everything; mud, rain, snow, etc. If I was buying now though I would go for the RTs just for a more aggressive looking tire.

On my F350 I was running a set of Toyo Open Country HT's. The HT's have been recalled and were on back order since November. Les Schwab offered to substitute them with the AT II's.
I mostly tow and occasionally DD with the Ford so I was hesitant to bolt on a set of less highway oriented tires. They carry the same load rating as the HT's (3750lb) and have a mileage warranty of 50k...the HT's did not carry a tread wear warranty.

Above 55 mph I can hear them start to whir otherwise they feel great.

I have a set of BFG KO2's on my 4Runner, although the uses for the vehicles is very different it will be interesting to see how the competing tires fare against each other.

HT's vs AT2's:

SLC97SR5, Like your truck. I wish I could find a clean OBS like yours. In my area they are all rusted out.

I'm running 285/75/17 AT2 Extremes on my 2010 Ram. I've got just under 30,000 on them right now and they have a little less than half tread remaining. I like the tire and I'll replace them with the same tire. I stopped by the tire shop yesterday to price a new set and I'll be replacing them within the month for two reasons. First, one of my tires has a deep cut through the tread right down to the steel belt. I must have hit something sharp in the road. Second, I want new tires for the trip to Maine I'll be taking this May and want good tread in case serious mud is encountered.

All in all, I'm pleased with them. They balance very well and are quite for the size and tread void they have.

I have 35x12.5's on my Chevy 3/4 ton and I love them. They have good road manners, a 50k mile warranty, are E-rated, and seem to work really well on the trails around here in Oregon. I'm not a rock crawler by any means, but I definitely put my big truck in some places it shouldn't be.

I haven't had much opportunity this year to try them in snow, but they seemed to work very well in the little I did find.

Ive got a few thousand miles on my set now.

So far these are hands down the quietest and smoothest riding tire this truck has ever seen.

Very impressed at this point at its road manners, and grip off the pavement.

We shall see how they wear rolling at 10k lbs most of the time.

Consider also the new Toyo RT's. I've spoken to three owners who went from MT's to them and they all like them. Way less noise and good tracking and stability. Hopefully,Toyo will expand the size selection.
I should get 50K on these AT2's

I have been running my Toyo OC AT2s since last May. They were a little less aggressive than I wanted. If they were available, I would have went for the RT version. On that note, I have thrown about everything at these tires and they have performed flawlessly. I ended up on a 2-track last fall that kept getting narrower and narrower and was pretty much 2 tracks of mud @ "3-"5 deep. They did quite well in it. Same goes for some very deep sand in MI's UP (no airing down either). A friend of my niece's stopped by tonight with his lifted newer Chevy. He is also running them and has had them about as long as I have. He is running a "17 "35. Mine appear to be wearing better with both having around @ 15k on them.

I have 'em. I like 'em. Running 35x12.50x17 on a Dodge at 8000+lbs. Replaced a set of Toyo MTs in same size. If you want an AT, you will not find a better AT for most purposes. If/when these wear out, I'll go with RTs or maybe back to MTs. MTs were very quiet, but ATs seem to be wearing a bit better.

Agreed, I really like my set too, and also wonder how they will last with similar gross weight?
