Here's my 285/75R18. I don't have a 315/75R16 to measure but figure 30mm wider ;)

thanks much spressomon for taking the time i am leaning strongly toward the 285/75R18. i just measured my current tires a little over 10" of the thread is touching the pavement, so that is very close to 315/75R16. again thanks much, now i just need to find a good deal.

Just catching up on this thread............

Trying to find sizing information on the new Toyo AT 2 in the extreme sizes is an exercise in frustration. Toyo's website is a joke.

Unfortunately, it looks as if the load rating on some of their E rated tires has been reduced.

That means I'll have to switch to MTs or try another brand when my Toyo ATs are due for a change.

Drat, these have been great tires.

The 285-75-17 Toyo AT's have the extreme configuration. I saw a photo on one of the Dodge sites.
Regarding the lower load rating,I changed from 3900# rated Toyo AT's to their 3195# MT cousin in the same size. Weight rating is down, but I can say that @ 65psi,they are like rocks just like my AT's. I've got a front axle load of 4400#,rear 4000# and drive around with 55#. No sway, barely a bulge in the suckers. AT's next time as 10" of rain down here hardly constitute a MT.

Update with recent snow (<5"), hardpack snow and ice: The turning and stopping performance in the aforementioned conditions is just average. ~7,200lb LC running ~45psi x 4. For comparison and FWIW: With similar conditions the Goodyear MT/R Kevlar in the same size, on the same rig running the same PSI is considerably better and more predictable. I was hoping for better snow/ice performance but it is what it is as they say ;)

That was probably me and yes, they are XXXXXXtreme in that size.

On the Toyo website, look for the ones with more tread depth. The Xtremes have 2/32 more meat.

Still loving them, btw. Slick roads, rocks, mud -- no problem. Haven't tried snow (mostly 'cause this is Georgia and snow is semi-mythical to us).

Not true I have the 285/75/16 and they are 17/32s and not Xtreme although I am xtremely happy with them. One foot of wet snow today and no problem, didn't spin a wheel.

Are they the AT-2 or the older AT?
If they're the AT-2, chalk-up anther salesman myth laid to rest...

Mine are the Xtreme though in the 285/75-17 and the tread is quite different from the non-Xtreme. Bigger voids but same basic pattern.
Big difference in the sidewall from the older version.

Ya, they are the AT-2. The voids are quite large but not quite what the Xtreme are. Here is a picture with a penny stuck in one of the voids

^ For compare: Photo from my post #76. New ATII Extreme (285/75R18). Definite differences in the tread blocks compared to your's.
