Toyota Trail Teams Edition

My father has talked about the FJ Cruiser since it's debut. I've tried and tried to talk him into a Taco or another Jeep, but he always returned to the FJ. He missed the boat on the TRD Edition last year due to him trying to decide what he wanted.

This morning he called me and asked if I wanted to go test drive the Fj again. At first I thought heck no, but then I realized I haven't hung out with him for a awhile and it would be nice to share his company and conversation (Besides, maybe I'd be able to talk him into the Taco).

On the way to the dealership, he told me that he had gotten a call from the dealer saying they had just received a white one in last night. I responded with piqued interest "The Trail Edition with the locker". He said "Yep".

Low and behold, a little while later he needed me to drive his Cummins home for him.

At least it's ExPo White!!!!!!

On the short list (Which was compiled as the deal was being struck),

Armor, front and rear.

Skids

Winch

Suspension

I'm new to this 120 platform, so I'm undecided on OME (Which I'm very impressed with how well Redline's 4runner handles) or a more aggressive kit to fully appreciate the IFS such as Total Chaos, Donahoe etc. I think we are both having a great time "Building" this rig.

He wanted a smaller rig that would alleviate the use of his crew cab Cummins as a daily driver. Be easier to find parking for, have a large aftermarket support (They even make snorkels for this thing). I think he found it and he's pretty pleased with it.

Congratulations on the acquisition! I've admired the new FJ since it came out but I just can't get past the interior or those funky tail lights! Is the visibility in these as poor as what's been said or is it just a matter of opinion? Cool trucks though.

Neat truck, he'll love it. White is good, although with the white roof I've always thought the tan looked pretty decent. But that's truly a personal thing, that truck is spec'd well.

Yes, the visibility is not ideal from the FJC, but it didn't strike me as worse than other stuff out there. The blind spot would be over my shoulder to the corner, but that didn't bug me since I have pretty much the same blind spots in my truck because of the camper and the FJC door mirrors are much better than mine. The FJC outward view is the same as lots of trucks IMO, the windows are too small and that irritates me.

The interior is funky, but it seems to me all the Toyota trucks now have over stylized interiors. Oh well.

Congratulations to your Dad and you J. You know that I'm with you and others, not wanting an FJC for myself... BUT I can't help but like his new FJ and if I was to get one I would want exactly what he purchased, a white Trail Teams edition.

I love white vehicles, particularly a 4x4 that will get used, and the black on white theme always looks good and is easy to continue with aftermarket bumpers and armor. It looks good/different without a roof rack. It was terrific that he was able to buy (rescue) it with only 9-miles on the clock and before the dealership started drilling holes in the roof for a big ARB roof rack.

It has a factory locker!!!!! and ATRAC, a great combo if he ever decided to wheel that thing. It is very ready. I’m jealous of the rear locker ☺ Nice wheels too, 16-inch TRDs!

Score!

That is a good truck (although I am not an FJ fan) and well equipped, he will have no problems going anywhere he wants in that.

If I were shopping for an FJ, that would be the one I'd get!

You need to show your dad this thread, the excitement his vehicle choice has generated... Get him reading the mod threads... put some bumpers, armor, and a small lift on that mall crawler... then, then

The gas tank is the only limit :smiley_drive:

I heard this TT Edition FJC has beefed up skids...

Got any pics of that? Toyota's factory skids have always been garbage, so I'm suspicious.

I drove it around a little last night, yeah it has some blind spots but nothing I don't think he won't get used to. I think a lot of it personal choice and how much your willing to accept and over look.

Thanks for the compliments.

I'll get him signed up on ExPo. I already showed him Man-A-Fre's Aux 19 gallon fuel tank.
