I heard this TT Edition FJC has beefed up skids...

Got any pics of that? Toyota's factory skids have always been garbage, so I'm suspicious.

Let's see pics of those "improved" skids! :peepwall:

Very cool rig. :safari-rig:

I recently had my 1999 in to Toyota to have the frame inspected due to corrosion issues and they had a Toyota Trail Teams Edition sitting there. I spent about 15 mintes just walking arround it and having a hard look at the rig. I really liked what I saw. Unfortunately is was too early in the morning and none of the sales folks were in yet. I wanted to have a seat in it for further inspections.

Congrats on the TT SE, I have the TRD SE. Your dad is going to love the rig, it is one awesome machine. I have done a little bit to mine....

It's called the RAPTOR.

This special edition looks GREAT. What I actually like best is that the doorhandles, mirrors, grille, bumperettes etc are painted in black in combination with the black rims and the BFG ATs. There is one at my dealership and I am drooling. I had a FJ for 10 days, but after 5 happy years with my Jeep Grand Cherokee, the change was just too drastic and I traded it again. Now I am wondering if... Very nice those white FJ.

Props to your Pops. :jumping:

I like the black on white look. Very unique among the FJ's.

It's started. I just got off the phone with Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and we ordered a full length ARB roof rack with the mesh floor. It should be here in about a week.

We also ordered the suspension kit today. I tried talking him into the 2.5 Fox kit with the remote res. however he didn't want to deal with the remote res. So, we went with the 2.5 Icon (Formerly Donahoe) with the Billet Upper control arms.

One of the reasons he chose the Icon over the fox's was the valving. This was discussed in detail with my good friend Sam Cothrun, Owner of Samco fab in Reno (He is the head fab/suspension guy for Rod Halls race Hummers and a few other big name desert guys).

I can't wait to wrench on a running vehicle for a change. I have to admit, his FJ is growing on me.

He was also going to order his front bumper today from Demello, but he's undecided on the hoop configuration. I'm trying to sway him towards the triple hoop style, and he likes the single or no hoop model.

I'm sure he'll get the single or no hoop as he hasn't listened to me at all yet. I said No FJ, he bought the FJ. I said No roof rack, he bought the rack. I said Fox's he got Icon's (I think he's paying my back for me being a punk teenager). Oh well...it's his money and his ride. I'm just cheap labor.

How about wrenching on a vehicle with no seized bolts, oil and dirt! :chowtime:

We got the Arb Roof rack mounted. He ordered the rack with the mesh floor option. It looks good, he says the wind noise is considerable. I having not spent much time in the fj before the rack was mounted can't really notice it.

We mocked up some Wedco cans to see how many fit across the top. We came up with six and a little offset room left over to mount a highlift jack.

Here's a pic with the Expedition Exchange can holder with can.

And one last pic with the can and locking strap removed.

Not bad for pics being taken with the Iphone.

Next up is the Icon/Donahoe Coilovers. I had a set of Icon Billet Upper Control arms ready, but they will be getting shipped back for fitment issues (See Redline's Thread for more).

The rear is a surprise, or at least it was for me.

Nice work J.

I wondered about the noise...

When your 80 comes back to life we are going to have to get your dad out on the trails with us using that FJC :)
