Just about ready!

Well the side boxes are done, some of the gear dusted off, truck not quite done, but should be by late morning and hopefully we will be off by lunch. I was planning on taking Alamo road to Planet Ranch rd, crossing the Bill Williams and on to Swansea and Bouse. Crossing over through the Plamosa mountains to Quartzsite and down to the meetup.

I am thinking that with the later start up, I will have to come up with a different plan. The above would take too long if a fellow spent the time to look around that that area merits. So I am back into the maps. We will just have to see.

LT, sorry to hear you won't make the trip. I was looking forward to meeting the two of you and seeing your rig. Mo and I did a house car life style for quite a few years and really enjoyed it. It would be neat to be able to share some stories. Some day soon, eh?

Me too, was looking forward to hangin' w/ some older rig owners.
(and I mean "older rigs") ;)

Soon.
I'll check the maps for future routes and see if we're going through your area. You could aways find us at the Expo ;)

Mikey:

What type(s) of comms for this trip?

And if we roll in around 8:30 a.m., is that too late? Or ok timewise? We can make it earlier.

Lance/Nick - any idea on when you guys might be arriving?

The Pinzies will be on CB channel 4 until something different is decided. Looks like we are going to have a staggered arrival time. Some as early as noon, I anticipate getting there around 2P with at least one other arriving around 6P, all on Friday.

Do we have a rough count on the number planning on attending?

Are we still looking at a potluck Saturday evening?

Almost packed up and more then ready. See ya all there.

I will be leaving my rig at home as the interior is completely stripped and my son's will be earning cash doing the insulation work (after a ton of cleaning of course)
So that will put me in Nick's rig and we plan to be in camp by 9am Sat morning
As far as I know Nick does NOT have a cb, I might have a mag mount antenna and radio around somewhere.
We will have a couple of hand held ham radios so I can loan out one pretty easy so we can stay in the loop for important stuff.

Nick plans to roll out of Phx 630a and I am meeting him at the QuickTrip 51st Ave & I-10 at that time if you want to roll with us Todd & company.

I am not even supposed to be here!

I was hoping to already be on the road by now but getting Rueben done is taking more time than I thought. So we are going to leave in the AM's on Friday. Since one of the projects that I didn't get to was getting my ham licence or radio, I will be falling back to my CB. We have always had good luck using channel 4 around here so let's stick with that.

Mo and I figure that we will get there in the early afternoon. Around two o'clock sounds about right.

As far as numbers, it looks like a count of eight vehicles with an unknown number of people and dogs.

Let's still shoot for the potluck for Saturday. You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you like. I want it to be fun and not be a concern or worry.

Getting in to camp at 0830 Saturday should be just fine. We will have some coffee on for ya, how's that? Can't wait to see all your smiling faces.

Sitting on my couch wishing I was out in the KofA with you guys...., :/

Me too… Been watching Lance’s SPOT throughout the day and feeling bummed I am not out there with everybody :(

I even checked weather.com for Quartzsite and the weather looks great for a nice stroll through the desert.

Yeah, it's beautiful here in Yuma; about 60 miles from where they are. So, it's always better out there. I'm Jealous.

A great time was had by all! Mike and Melissa and Nick/Lance/Leland are still out there somewhere. The rest of us working stiffs came back this afternoon. Very beautiful, remote country. It's the first time I've ever been in this part of AZ and I'd like to go back. Plenty of photos and stories to follow, I'm sure. We ended up with 8 rigs: three Fords, one Chevy, three Pinz's, and a Volvo! One Pinz driver wasn't feeling well so they bailed at lunchtime yesterday.

Thanks to Mikey and Melissa for leading our motley band - you did a great job and Reuben looks great.

definitely a big THANKS to Mike and Melissa. Had a good time, had planned to stay through Monday. My passenger who was going to bring his own vehicle did not get doctors approval to drive his truck (he had an injury to his hand that had not yet healed) had to be back for work on Monday. Guess I will just have to head back out there and finish what was started at a later date:)
Weather was perfect for this desert trip.

not the best pics but I always seem to have my phone so at least I get some memories.
