Are all of their clothes really made in the USA? I went to their web page, but didn't see anything on the page about where they make their clothing. If they make it in the USA, they should tout that on the web site, as I would be willing to pay a premium for their clothing based on that.

Some of it is, some isn't. If you look under the specs tab on most clothing it will specify. I think all their fleece's are US made, along with the pants, and some other items.

Unfortunately they didn't have my size in the sale last month but I was able to pick up a Stealth hoodie a few days ago on Ebay. It arrived today and even though it was 108 here today, I was very excited to try it on. Fits like a glove - I'm really going to enjoy wearing this jacket this fall. And it says, "Made in USA" - perfect.

Happy Friday. I'm catching up a little after a couple great trips rock-climbing in Yosemite and exploring the Black Rock Desert, the latter with our friends from Bay Area Expeditions. We were shooting pics of our gear in use. Stay tuned. (This would be a good time to mention that I love my job, as you might imagine.)

A couple responses for you:
- While the majority of our products are made domestically, we do manufacture abroad when we believe it to be the best solution for a given product.
- Blain, we'll be launching new Rangers in the coming season.

And some news:
- We just introduced our new Merino Half Zip baselayer. We're big fans of Merino, especially for its adaptive ability to handle a good variety of activity levels and conditions. It will wick moisture away and evaporate it to keep you cool, and act like a great insulating layer. Wool has been a fabric in long use by many desert cultures as a result. And it doesn't retain odor, which means you can get more uses between washing. This is a nice quality when on long expeditions.

We'll be eager to hear what you think.

Have a great weekend.

Our evolved Overland Shirt

Good morning, gentlemen. I hope all is well. The team at TAD just got back from Las Vegas. We were invited by Selectism to join the Project show. The basic idea was that performance clothing like TAD is now pushing casual clothing makers to provide more function for the wearer. We've been doing that for 14 years now, and it's nice to see that the idea of not sacrificing performance for style is gaining some momentum.

In other news, we just introduced our evolved Overland Shirt. Introduced for the first time last Fall, we've been soliciting your feedback to make this interpretation of the classic expedition shirt even better. Folks like Scott Brady, Graham Jackson, and James Brown have put this shirt through the paces. The result is an enlarged sleeve diameter to facilitate easy roll up and the addition of low profile, taped buttons for a more subdued look.

It's made of incredibly soft cotton in a French twill, and available in khaki and olive. We look forward to hearing your questions and feedback.

Enjoy the weekend,

JJ

On the overland Shirt I would like to see the button hole be sideways on the breast pockets so that the tabs can be pulled upward and the button will be released easily for smooth one handed access.

Will the new overland shirt be the one provided with the Overland Journal subscription offer or are they the old stock? I don't want to get another overland shirt if I cannot roll up the sleeves.

Also, where is the Street fighter Jacket and the Shemagh shown in the overland journal ad on your website?

Yes, the Overland shirt with the subscription offer has the new sleeves, etc.

I am pretty excited about the Street Fighter and look forward to seeing more on that too. It will be my new moto jacket (I have not been so happy with the fit of the Barbour)

I just signed up with a two year renewal sub, I did not see an offer for the shirt.

Also TAD, any idea when the newer Ranger Hoodie will be available?

What exactly is the subscription offer with overland journal. I've been meaning to sign up for it since my Uncle's subscription ended (his wife is a photographer that Overland Journal uses a lot). Id like to know what this offer entails and such. The new Overland shirt is awesome looking.

This Friday

Hi folks,

Here's a little advanced intel about our Friday plans. The evolved Ranger Hoodie has a fit designed for speed, and has been field-proven by explorers and soliders alike since 2002. From the high quality heavyweight Polartec WindPro to the attention to fit and intelligent pocket placement, this is a rugged fleece designed to get you through colder expeditions with agility and ease.

In this photo, our friend, Josh Webster gives the Ranger a test on our Yosemite climbing trip. Josh is on the leadership team of Team Rubicon and is a PJ to boot.

Plus Olive Spartans will also be restocked, now with a hemmed inseam. Pairs excellently with our Overland Shirt in Khaki.

Best,

JJ and the team at TAD

Hey Beowulf,

Great feedback on the buttons. The Overland Journal subscription offer includes the new shirt. And the Streetfighter and Shemaugh are coming later in the season. And... Streetfighter is made of.... Horween.

Thanks for the post.

Found it; for everyone else, if you go to the OJ site, theres a tab titled 2011 Holiday Offer.

OJ or TAD: Lets say I get the large, but it's too big, can exchanges be done? I'm always between sizes depending on brands.

tperkins,

If it helps with the sizing I have the Medium original Overland Shirt with the smaller sleeves and the fit is what most manufacturers would call Modern, Slim, or Athletic on my frame. I have a 43" chest and 32" waist. There is just enough room up top to not look tight and the waist is small enough to not look too baggy. Now if I had my choice, I'd still take out some of the material in the waist, but that would not work for most people.
