UAV-TT (off-road tent trailer) build

Starting to get the big piece for the build.
Got my harbor freight 2500 atv winch with wireless remote.

I have used the wired version in the past on my rock buggy to suck the rear suspension down. I think the biggest issue with them is the poor greasing that makes them loud.
Repacked it with high temp lithium grease

What is nice is the remote has a on and off power switch, so you dont get a stray signal. Also when you let go of the retract button it instantly stops movement. Hopefully it wont over extend the roof.

Well piece are coming together!
Airbags came yesterday

Went down and bought all the steel for the subframe and suspension arms

Ruffstuff bracket and joints will be here tomorrow or monday.
Saturday and sunday project is to get the frame mocked up and tacked!

Laid the frame out today and tacked into position

Seems pretty small laying on the ground!
Received all my trailing arm suspension joints yesterday.

Hopefully tomorrow I can build the arms and be ready to go when the axle shows up!

I never really paid attention, but the stock main frame rails are 1.5"x3"!!

Well got a lot of progress done the other day with the suspension!

Getting the main arms welded into position.

Outer brackets tacked into place

Center brackets tacked into place

Cut the angled
Brackets out still deciding on placement.

Good news everything is square and is where it should be!
Hope tomorrow to get everything welded, lower airbag brackets welded in, got to make upper airbag brackets and cross member.

Not much to show but got a lot done today. Went to the junkyard and picked up some bumpstops from a s10 blazer.

Did a ton of welding today!! Finished the arms welded everything.

Now need to cut and separate them.
Picked up the airbag fittings so i can run schrader valves for now. Finished welding the frame on both sides.
More pics sunday maybe.

Are you cutting both the axle tube and the frame you made into an independent setup? If so that's a rad idea! Keep posting the pics!

Keep up the good work! My build has slowed right down now that we are at the end of camping season/ my GF can't stay warm enough in the RTT from now until April so we don't head out so I will have to live through your build for now!
